White-Throated Sparrow

Had four in our yard, biding their time
until the last of the snow melts off the Mountain.

Then they'll go up there, where they love to reside all Summer.

Be sure to have Mayo today!

Actually..."Cinco de Mayo is a yearly celebration held on May 5, which commemorates the anniversary of Mexico's victory over the Second French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, led by General Ignacio Zaragoza. The victory over the French army was a morale boost for the Mexicans." ~ Wikipedia

Compass Rose

After we gave the Lifetime Achievement Award Trophy to the person who had run the Sailing School for 35 of its 42 years, I painted over the Compass Rose, which I first painted on the Sailing School porch in 2015.  I painted over it with the gray deck paint exactly so that the pirate who stole the lease to the land could not have any  benefit of it.  But photos remain...!

From Liane*in*VT (whose brother in law is an actual rocket scientist)

So, it turns out, Musk overruled his engineers and did not have flame diverters installed in the launch pad. This is what happened to the launch pad.

Some of the speculation among those who do this kind of thing is that debris from the destruction of the launch pad damaged the 8 engines that were visibly not functioning immediately after launch.

Expensive and reckless decision, if that turns out to be the cause.

Just keeping FOX in the news cycle...

Saturday, this fox sauntered through Youngest's yard in broad daylight...right by where the grands play, and totally ignored their chicken coop and chickens.

The only sort of FOX worth watching

Mind you, this one is licking its chops because it saw Spinnaker on the (screened) back porch!
