    1. GOP has plenty of time to dig their hole deeper; I figure six feet ought to be enough.

    2. It is my sense that when status-seeking Republicans discovered that public servants are expected to work, they lost interest. Now we have to find better candidates and find something for incompetents to do.

    1. I suspect Clarence is another narcissist and perceives himself as self-made. He may even resent what Crow dis for his mother, as well as the creation of the Pin Point Heritage Museum.
If that is correct, then the question is how come the donors keep trying to appease the grifters. I suspect it is because the donors cannot believe they can never do enough.
Thomas' "high tech lynching" is not very different from Trump's "hoaxes."

  4. How A Rural California County Became A Petri Dish For the Big Lie [Click] If I am not mistaken, there is something the article overlooks: California law has very specific requirements to prove that a manual count system is reliable before it can be used in an election. That said, I can remember when hand-marked and hand-counted ballots were in common use.

  5. Yes, and after participating in a number of manual recounts of paper ballots, I can attest that accuracy is very difficult to achieve.
In the mid-eighties, when the Sec of State of Georgia came to North Florida to tout and explain the "machines" that had the hanging chads in 2000, when many more voters showed up than expected, the rationale for new systems was that with paper ballots 10% routinely got thrown out because of marking errors. Some old folks are resistant to filling in circles and prefer to use check marks.

    1. I remember using ink pads and sort of pencil-like X markers. I also remember long ballots that were really long--like six feet or occasionally even longer.
