The media keep mentioning Ethan Sonneborn, who is our 14 year old candidate for Governor.  Funny that they haven't mentioned the Democrats have also got a candidate who is transgender.  Christine Hallquist used to work with Wil, years ago, when her name was Dave.  Having heard all the candidates, I actually agree most often with Ethan Sonneborn!  He has held his own in the debates and just might have my vote.

So, I took this photo, in my kitchen, for your appreciation: 

As you can see, it is good, thick bacon, fairly lean and very healthy.  We buy it at the market two miles from our house.   But there's more.  During the aftermath of Hurricane Irene (7 years ago this month), when the southern part of Vermont was devastated, Root*Center*Son was growing lots and lots of veggies for the food shelfs.  He had enough that he was able to send some to the towns that had lost everything.  But how to get it there?  Black River Produce stepped in.  They offered to bring the veggies to the towns, for free, in their trucks that were traveling the state anyway with Black River Produce.  (They don't just offer meats.)  Think of that.  They sell produce, but were transporting free produce.  Good people.

VT Nurses Strike

Smack dab in the middle of a two day Nurses Strike at the Medical Center in Vermont, Youngest and  Daughter*in*Law had to spend 24 hours at the hospital so that her pregnancy could be monitored.  All is well, and the baby is fine.  But I have to tell you a wonderful thing.  Daughter*in*Law wore a red dress to be in solidarity with the striking nurses, and brought along a Bernie action figure, since he has been strongly backing the nurses!  📿💪

Grandbaby Quilt

This is the quilt I am making for my grand baby due next month.  [Double click on the photo to see it larger.]  I got the top and backing all pieced in time for the Baby Sprinkle (smaller than a Shower) on Saturday.  Tonight I got the batting into the quilt (always an experience!).  Now to quilt as fast as I can, as this baby is likely to come early...!  

There are three sailboats as this is their third baby.  The royal blue boat is older brother's favourite colour, and is shown leading the way.  The purple boat with pink highlights is older sister's favourite colors, and is shown bringing up the rear.  Between them safely sails the green boat, for the new baby (gender will be learned at birth).  There is a star in one corner for the theme "All I need is a tall ship and a star to steer her by."  There are also three types of wind devices, depicted in the other three corners (propeller, old fashioned windmill, new brand of windmill).  There are three hot air balloons (the glory of Summer for a Summer baby).  I added shines around the sun when the baby's Mama mentioned that this baby is going to be a new light in the world.  Last but not least I embroidered a Monarch Butterfly because just as I arrived for the Baby Sprinkle on Saturday, a Monarch Butterfly flew across in front of me, and it's the first one I've seen this year.  It felt like a symbol of Hope.
