    1. Very fine! And they should know what to do with the left-over bacon grease, too. Starting with general cooking use and progressing to red-eye gravy. If one were to have enough to make into soap, that would be evidence of a serious bacon addiction... My mom always poured it off into a can, covered it and put it into the refrigerator for later use. I gave it up when I had to economize, realized how messy it was, and didn't go back.

    2. There is nothing better than bacon grease when it comes to frying potatoes and onions. Also delicious in green beans and potatoes. I discovered directions for cooking your bacon in the oven. It doesn't splatter grease everywhere and I get much more grease rendered to save than with pan frying. Plus I don't get those nasty little burns from popping fat. Sometimes I also make bacon weaves because they stay on a BLT much better than individual strips of bacon. And I don't even care how bad bacon might be for me. I don't eat it every week and I'm never giving it up, so there.

    3. In the oven? That makes sense. You have to die of something--wouldn't want to keep on cluttering the place up and not making room for the youngsters; and it might as well be tasty!

    4. That reminds me of one of my favorite things I saved:

"Life should *not* be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'Yeeehawww! What a ride!'"

  2. I was just refreshing my recollection of Bismarck's "State Socialism" [Click], which was intended to preempt the Marxian socialists, and which in time evolved into Rhine Capitalism. [Click] We are already at least halfway there, but where is our political leader with the acumen of Bismarck? It ought to be possible to go the rest of the way, and to get most everyone on board with it.

  3. Kansas GOP Primary Gets Uglier [Click] “…can the GOP get a Republican candidate in time to have a real campaign in a governors’ race that is very much competitive?”

Trump Made Socialism Great Again [Click] “The president has disrupted democratic complacency, and that’s a good thing.” One thing the author does not consider is Marx’s application of Hegelian philosophy to sociopolitical evolution; every system of government produces and nurtures the seeds of the system that will destroy/overthrow/replace it; the two will produce a synthesis, which will produce and later merge with a rival. We are now in one of those chaotic but ultimately helpful transitions. Compare it to feudalism being replaced by mercantilism, which was then replaced by the centralized bureaucratic state funded by socialized costs (and ultimately depending for its existence on adequately socialized benefits).

Why the Space Force Is Just Like Trump University [Click] A trivial diversion, methinks.

  4. From FiveThirtyEight:
Here’s Who Democrats Are Nominating. [Click] Marked advantage to women and past elected officials, some advantage to Obama alumni. Scroll to the bottom for a summary, and the conclusion: "But this is just the tip of the iceberg. Obviously, plenty of other questions factor into what kind of candidate pulls in primary voters — not the least of which is ideology. Stay tuned."

Well, it might also help Uncle Vlad, no?
