  1. As 2018 elections near, potential 2020 presidential candidates jockey for money. [Click] Conclusion: "They are going to wait to see how the wind blows in the midterms," said Mark Buell, a prominent Democratic donor in the San Francisco Bay area. "If the Democrats do well and win the midterms, people are going to smell blood."

    Giuliani makes quite an admission about a previously unadmitted Trump Tower meeting.[Click] Sounds like he realizes his previous denials about Trump’s knowledge of the meeting with the Russian purveyors of “dirt” on HRC isn’t going to fly, and he needs a new story—but it only gets Trump in deeper.

    Russia’s requests to Interpol for Red Notices—the closest instrument to an international arrest warrant—against Kremlin opponents are being met with increasing deference by the Department of Homeland Security.[Click] We may speculate about the reason, no?

    1. Russia is desperately trying to get to the man who is responsible for the Magnitsky Act (sp?). But they want him so they can kill him. Putin tried to get Cheetolini to hand him over, but that didn't work - I don't know why. Putin simply kills his enemies - a tactic Cheetolini envies with all his shriveled little heart. Of course if Cheetolini could kill his detractors the USA would be de-populated in short order.

  3. Did I mention that I'm reading Asimov's Guide to the Bible? Last night also picked up The Particle at the end of the Universe by Sean Carroll. A cheeky title for a book about the importance of, search for, and eventual discovery of the Higgs boson.

  4. Giuliani off his nut again? The following is from talkingpointsmemo.com

    ==================
    We’ve now had Rudy Giuliani go on CNN and appear to concede that top campaign leaders met two days before the infamous Trump Tower meeting to prepare for how to handle the meeting with the Russian government lawyer. A couple hours later he appeared on Fox News and claimed that none of that was true, that he’d been denying Michael Cohen’s false claims. But there’s one big problem – key to what happened here – that is barely being discussed. In the first TV appearances, Giuliani listed a series of claims made by either Michael Cohen or Cohen’s lawyer Lanny Davis. Giuliani appeared to concede a lot but drew the line on whether President Trump attended any of these meetings or knew about them in advance. The problem is that neither Cohen or Davis has ever said any of those things.

    So what on earth happened here? What is Giuliani talking about?

    Why is Paul Manafort risking it all to face Mueller charges in court?[Click] “The decision to take his chances at trial has startled observers, and raised question as to whom he might be protecting.” Well, maybe he has control of information that would be existential for the President and could be traded for a pardon. And he has been mixed up with people who play rough. Very rough.

  6. I received verification of another DNA match (3rd cousin) via ancestry.com today, and await verification of a virtually certain second cousin. So far it seems that alleged third cousins very often are, and closer matches are 100%. That augurs well for identification of my genetic grandfather, but that will take some more time.

  7. Big rain and cool as kin be. One phone line out. Will report it just before I go to bed when I have to switch back to phone. Fun.

    Thought I'd lost Beau for about an hour last night. He'd been out, but no barks, so I went to look. And it appeared that the line on the post had somehow opened, and he was out. That arrangement usually leads to the cable getting caught somewhere, somehow. I have NO WAY to look for him. Called kid, who had no ideas. Decided to wait til sunrise, call Nancy and ask if she knew anyone I could pay to go looking. Lit a candle and went out one last time to call him. He was on the end of the porch. And stuck. Following the cable, it was actually still hooked, just fallen to the bottom of the post and pulled part way under so it couldn't be seen from the porch side. Relief and joy. And today rehooked it up higher.

  8. One week postpartum, DIL's BP went way up. They have her BP med and it came down somewhat. But then she got a big headache. She thinks it's how she slept, but if it's not better by morning, or if it worsens, they'll call the doctor. I am all packed to go if summoned, and am going to sleep in my clothes. Heading to bed now.
