Goodbye Sweet May!
Later Addition:
We have clear skies today, but the sky is completely white outside. That's due to dense smoke aloft from wildfires burning across western Canada. Here's a model graphic depicting current coverage of smoke aloft across the nation. The local National Weather Service office added the trace of Vermont, so you can see what we're dealing with here in NW VT. I am experiencing respiratory irritation. Sigh. I'm so grateful that we have heat pumps, because we were able to put them in Air Conditioning mode and at least freshen the air inside the house.

Pick Me!
Day 4: Are they cute or what?
Three healthy baby Cardinals. I took this last planned photo today, as it was warm and sunny,
there will be rain the next few days, and the day I'm home again is their likely fledge day.
Mama and Papa Cardinal are being wonderfully attentive and hard working.
I admire them greatly. And I leave a grub on the porch for them whenever I find one.

The American Cardinal chick eggs hatched on Saturday!
We noticed that the male was feeding the female, as happens when they have chicks.
So when she was briefly off the nest, I slipped outside to the bush, stuck my hand through the Rhododendron blossoms, aimed my iPhone toward the nest I couldn't see, and got lucky!
Then I got out of there fast.
