    1. Juan Cole posits, as I have, that the Houthis are quite reasonable suspects in the recent tanker attacks--they have the motive, quite possibly the ability, and nothing to lose. It would be absolutely human for them to have fighters who would be willing to go on what might be a suicide mission.

Among other reasons to doubt blathering about Iranian mines and torpedoes is that Iran does not have such small weapons in its naval inventory. There was one Iranian mine that went adrift in the Iran-Iraq war and was hit by a large merchant ship--it blew a fifteen-foot hole in the ship. Yes, Iran has submarines and they have torpedoes--big enough to sink warships. (Which just might explain why the Abraham Lincoln strike force has not entered the Persian Gulf--they are in the Arabian Sea, where they are not playing fish in a barrel.)

  2. Trump campaign zeroes in on a new threat: Elizabeth Warren [Click] “The president's team is about to go after a candidate he had left for dead.” Do consider the source of the story—Politico.com

    1. I was hoping Joe Biden would remain the "frontrunner" so that he would be Cheetolini's primary target.

    2. You and me both, Susan. By now Warren has seen enough examples of how to deal effectively with DT that she will be able to do so more effectively, I expect.

  3. California’s wildfire season is starting and officials are bracing for the worst [Click] They have even called out the National Guard to help thin vegetation in the highest-risk places—that’s new, I think. The story says California had a record-breaking heat wave last week; I hadn’t been paying enough attention to evaluate that claim, but last week certainly was warm—like mid-summer.

    1. Although it's not explicitly highlighted, the crucial legal point in these cases is the extent to which the deep-pocket defendants being sued are responsible for or involved in the defamation being complained of.
