It is slightly off topic, but it seems to me that if the US Supreme Court overturns Roe vs. Wade it will be very strongly reminiscent of the Dred Scott decision---far too many people will be opposed.
He makes the point, which others as well have, that the Russians are dead set on believing that the US is their enemy. The more I reflect on it, the more I think we should deal with them in a way effectively similar to the way Julius Caesar dealt with the Cilician pirates. Let them enjoy their great power status as the Lithuanians and the Swedes do theirs.
The first round of parliamentary elections in France have concluded, so we should have the results tomorrow. The left-wing alliance seems to be capable of giving Macron's loyalists a run for their money, in a low-turnout contest. I wonder if a close result in the first round might spur turnout in the second round.
