  1. History makes clear that 2022 will tell us nothing about the outcome of the next presidential election. [Click]

Leave Joe Biden Alone [Click] “Biden’s been a good president, but Republicans want to impeach him and some Democrats want to replace him.”

Much is being made of GOP candidates espousing 2020 voting machines fraud being nominated to oversee elections. But the news media don’t seem to be making the connection to the multi-billion dollar defamation lawsuits by Dominion Voting Systems [Click] and Smartmatic. [Click] Running on such a platform looks to me like driving around the railroad crossing gates to beat an oncoming train— which, of course, some people do.

How cannabis-fed chickens may help cut Thai farmers’ antibiotic use [Click] “Scientists observed fewer cases of avian bronchitis and superior meat after chickens given cannabis.” Sounds like a good argument for feeding it to Republicans. [grin]

There is some evidence that there might have been a previous European epidemic during the Neolithic period.

  4. Via politicalwire.com: Retired Judge Has Stark Message for January 6th Committee [Click]

Retired federal Judge J. Michael Luttig, a staunch conservative long admired by many Republicans, will testify before the House’s Jan. 6 committee on Thursday with an urgent and stark message, CBS News reports: “America’s democracy was almost stolen from her.”

“Luttig will also likely state that the Republican National Committee is wrong to have referred to some of the events of Jan. 6, 2021 as ‘legitimate political discourse’ and warn fellow conservatives to not ignore the gravity of what Trump did as he scrambled to hold onto the presidency that day.”

George Conway to MSNBC: “I really want to hear this testimony. I think it’s going to be a blockbuster moment in these hearings.”

  5. Via politicalwire.com: House GOP Distances from Chamber of Commerce [Click]

“House Republicans welcomed to the Capitol on Wednesday a new self-described ‘anti-woke’ business lobbying group, amplifying their hostility toward the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and broader ‘environmental, social and corporate governance’ (ESG) movement,” Axios reports.

“The U.S. Chamber used to wield enormous power within the GOP as the representative of business interests. But the country’s largest lobbying group is now viewed with contempt across large swaths of the Republican Party.”

This does not augur well for the GOP; if the Democratic Party plays its cards well, they could find themselves with a very strong ally.

    1. I shared this with my Senator (Alex Padilla). Certainly Democrats and Big Business did great things when they built the US into The Arsenal of Democracy [Click] They are not destined to be eternal enemies.

  6. The most compelling news in my day: Grandson*in*Maine (6) lost his first tooth today. And he has every confidence that the Tooth Fairy will bring him a toy groundhog animal for his miniature plastic animal collection. Never mind that Schleich has never made one. LOL. So, naturally, Mama found something that will work.
