  2. Had a lovely, sunny day here, if a bit chilly . All in all though, in light of the terrible weather afflicting other parts of the country, we're very lucky.

Re Alan's comment on the last thread: Yes, it's probably safer and more comfortable not to get involved.

Spent the evening reading up on King and Enperor penguins. Remarkable creatures, and soooo cute!

I'd like to put in a plug for the books of H. Rider Haggard. I've read four: "King Solomon's Mines" and its sequel "Allan Quatermain," which are adventure stories, "She," a complex tale involving adventure, antiquarianism, romance and the occult, and "Cleopatra," a historical novel. There are also other books about Allan and a sequel to "She," several available at Project Gutenberg. I plan to check them out. BTW this is the She Who Must Be Obeyed after whom Rumpole of the Bailey calls his wife Hilda.

  3. One last steroid shot, yesterday, made all the difference. Alleluia!! He slept 11 hours straight last night and today was eating and talking again. =WHEW!!=

Today our birthday parcel arrived for Grandson (after first being sent to the wrong town ~ same first initial and one digit difference in zip code ~ but correct on the address label!!). He got to open it and discover his own Fisher Price barn with animals, people and accessories. :-) He exclaimed "Oh! It's a farm!" and was inseparable from it from then on! :-D It was so sweet to see the video and some stills of him enjoying it all! So wonderful that he is eating and talking again! You will have to imagine my relief; some things just cannot be put into words.
