listener, just read about the accident. YOWCH! That hurts just to think about.
I still like Alan's explanation of the injury. Having to tell people you got hit in the face by a closing hatchback door is unromantic and, well, embarrassing. A conversation involving flying objects is much more interesting.
Sis is gonna be unhappy with me this coming week. Tomorrow evening I have the monthly phone gathering of the Writers Division. Then Wednesday and Friday evenings are live webcasts of Engelbert concerts. I'm so excited!!! Need to buy my tickets. I hear they have smoothed out most of the problems on their end since the first webcast from Casino Rama in Toronto a few weeks ago. I've updated everything on my computer I can update. Still have pretty serious doubts that the computer will hold out, but hope springs eternal. Even if I only get to see/hear the first few songs, like last time, it will still be worth it.
Anyway, Sis isn't gonna like me being busy three nights in one week. However, I suppose she'll survive. 8)
You guys aren't going to believe what just happened!
Sis came in with the mail, a receipt from Obama for America, a couple of magazines, a request for money...and a letter from Robert, the Writers Division president, saying that my entries in the Poetry contest took First and Second Prize respectively. What's more, I won $150!!! Not sure, but I think that's the most money I've ever earned at one time. But, exciting as that is, the funny thing is that I'd completely forgotten about submitting the poems. So, the letter came as a bolt out of the blue!
Excuse me while I go jump up and down, waving my arms over my head for a while.
I just signed the 14th Amendment petition, which Bernie Sanders is encouraging. I went the extra mile and also wrote:
"President Obama, "Thank you for your measured statesmanship during this national time of great stress. As an American citizen I have no more patience for the posturing and cluelessness of too many members in Congress. Instead of putting the good of the people first it seems they are focused on their own interests first. In my view, this isn't going to change in time to tend the well being of this nation. I still trust that you see the greater good and I call upon you to invoke the 14th Amendment to tend the debt crisis in a timely manner. Enough is enough. My family and I are not going to keep our heads above water much longer. We need your leadership and we will be there for you now (to protest any hint of repercussion) and our Hope will be renewed for the future. With Gratitude and Continued Prayer..."

I broke it to Sis that she'd be on her own three nights this coming week and why. She said, "Oh, Okay. I'll manage...I guess." Not sure whether she meant it to be funny, but it was.
Currently downloading Firefox 5. Didn't Renee say something about that recently? I sure hope it's stable! My current Thunderbird crashed all the time. I definitely do not want Firefox to crash, at least not till after August Fifth.
Howard Dean is First!
