  2. Hi. I have been hanging out over at eBay in some of my spare time lately, also shopping with a dealer for slide rules. One more to go for my stock...
I took a moderately simple one to work for Show And Tell today and managed to remember well enough how to drive it that the young gals got kinda bug-eyed! [Thank goodness I didn't take a more complicated one; I could remember how to use all the scales on it, although I must admit I had had to review how to use the CI (Inverted C) scale to multiply.] Some of those lessons from 7th grade through the first year of college evidently sank in... The gal who said she had never seen one evidently expected something quite a bit bigger than the 10 inch model I brought.

Now to go back and catch up a bit on HEP.

  3. Susan--obviously the best stuff is that from before expiration dates.
I am reminded of a fellow I once worked with who was in a WWII German prison camp (POW or other, he didn't say and I didn't ask) who said that by the end of the war they were extremely grateful for some cabbage that was just a little rotten.

Re glasses, I could use a new pair, but it is a little soon on my current insurance. So it will be September, when I go on Medicare. That's easy enough.

My experience with chemotherapy was evidently relatively easy, but even so my coworkers commented on how much better I looked the day after it stopped. Hugs for Ally from an apparent survivor. I have a routine followup exam with my oncologist tomorrow (today, back East time). No sweat.

Words fail me when it comes to the idiocy of so many congresscritters. Gives critters a bad name. And I do so truly wish I could vote AGAINST someone. Or somones. Our daughter was lucky job-wise. So far I am doing OK. (Yesterday an attorney who was questioning me in a deposition was obviously close to dumbfounded that I was working three jobs…) Positive vibes for Demetrius.

What Bill said about restoration of the Euphrates marshes.

    And now to bed.

Cat, read the Marsh Arab story ~~ thank you! Gives one hope.

  5. FYI, I deleted my comment from yesterday, but not your kind replies. I just didn't think that was the sort of stuff I wanted to leave online.

Will check back in when I am able.

  6. Still slogging my way through the kitchen redo. Leg over leg got the old dog to Dover.

  8. But because it was not HOT enough, I had to go and have a trash burn, lol!

  9. Great way of putting it, Susan! I have a lot of those leg-over-leg days, myself. :-)

Alan ~~ I don't understand the connection between glasses and Medicare. Do you mean that the time limit for new glasses on your insurance policy happens by coincidence to coincide with your Medicare eligibility?

  15. I have a dear friend in NW PA who home schooled her five while I home schooled my five. A number of times when one of the kids had a mishap ~ broken arm, stitches or whatever ~ one of the kids from the other family would have a mishap within a few days to maybe a week. It happened so many times that we actually would phone one another when a mishap occurred so the other mom could be on vigil!

Well, they are all grown up and most of them are parents now. Tuesday evening one of the guys from the other family was taking a mirror off the wall and it broke, resulting in him having ten stitches in one finger. Immediately I sent out a half-tongue-in-cheek email to our five kids, telling them of the injury and saying to take care and this was Fair Warning!

Well, guess what. Tonight one of our kids was at an event, and had just taken some stuff out of the back of the car. It seemed he was done and the other person present went to shut the hatch just as he leaned in to grab one more thing. He got 5 stitches...just above his nose and between his eyes. And folks...this is the groom-to-be we're talking about...16 days to the wedding...!
