If I’m not mistaken, everyone here was thinking they’d be happy with Walz. I am too! Wil was concerned about PA, but what a brilliant stroke to have their first rally in Philly.
I was at least concerned that she might go with the guy from Pennsylvania; in that case (not that it would make any difference) I figured I would have to consider voting third party. I can breathe a lot easier with Walz. (Although it will be a bit of a challenge to remember pronouncing his name with a "W" as in 'wen" and a "z" as in "zebra." (I am conditioned to do otherwise from studying, and to some degree using, German.) -----Alan
Opinion piece Tim Walz is a regular guy. That's exactly what Kamala Harris needs.
By Patricia Lopez, syndicated columnist Vice President Kamala Harris named Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate, bringing to the ticket a skilled executive with folksy charm who has shown he isn’t afraid to embrace policies that lean on the government’s ability to improve people’s lives.
Walz, 60, is, in many ways, the perfect counterbalance to Harris. He brings deep experience as a governor, House contacts from his six terms as a congressman, and an everyman back story that made him stand out amid the usual elite lawyer candidates.
With a single word — “weird” — Walz pulled off something few candidates for the job have ever done. He reframed the entire Democratic message. Gone was the casting of former President Donald Trump as some dark lord threatening democracy. Instead, Walz tried an old schoolyard tactic — casting the bully and his gang as weirdos. The taunt shrank Trump, putting him in a new and mocking light. --nordy

The location is historically important; the Battle of Kursk in WWII was the biggest battle of all time, as well as the biggest tank battle of all time, and together with the Battle of Stalingrad marked the beginning of the end of the German strategic incursions on the Eastern Front. PHILADELPHIA (The Borowitz Report)—Responding to Vice President Harris’s choice of Tim Walz as her running mate on Tuesday, Donald J. Trump claimed that the Minnesota governor “was never white before.”
“I saw him on television many, many times, and, quite frankly, he was never white,” Trump said. “Then, he suddenly became white.”
Hinting that “there’s something going on,” Trump said that Walz’s “last-minute decision to become white” was “something that should be looked into.”
Asked what Walz was before he became white, Trump responded, “I think Walz is some kind of a dance. So what is he, white or a dance? I respect either one, but he obviously doesn’t.”
Wil is happy tonight and so am I. We both think Walz is a fine choice. Imagine this country being cheered up! Aisha Mills aid today that "the American people have been living with PTSD." Now we have a chance to heal.

Pleasantly surprised that they went with Walz. I was expecting the "tack to the right" move.

Maybe I can condition myself to read "Walz' and think of the walls of a house.

I studied German too, and to be honest that pronunciation never occurred to me!
