Ford cancels $12 billion dollar Electric Car investment plans [Click] It seems to me that abandoning vertical integration was a bad idea, and it seems they have gotten themselves into trouble the same way GM did (thirty-odd years ago as memory serves me): by turning into a lending company that manufactures cars so their lending division would have something to finance, rather than a manufacturing company. Maybe I’m too cynical, but that is what occurs to me. —Alan (who wonders if Citroen will come back to the US)
And again I checked the price of the Walgreen's liniment (equivalent to Ben Gay) at the store and there wasn't half off on a second tube (the long-time "special" price), but I could get that discount plus 15% off and free delivery (maybe today, no promises) if I ordered six, which I did. ---Alan
Adjusting for inflation and average fuel economy (using government figures), today's gas price and our car's fuel economy (32 mpg) works out to 14 cents per mile; 27.7 cents per gallon (what I remember) in 1968 and 13mpg (car average fuel economy back then) would be equivalent to 19 cents per mile in today's money. The $5.99 per gallon I paid last time would still be a bit less per mile than in 1968 (when, granted, I got double blue chip stamps and a free glass with each fill-up). Bad fellow that I am, I feel no sympathy for people who choose to drive gas hogs (unchanged since 1968). Cars are a lot better and longer lasting these days, too. ----Alan
So interesting that our fuel economy might be comparable with the 60s when adjusted for inflation. Wil’s and mine is surely better, as our Mini gets 42mpg and the Maverick closer to 52mpg.
Ironically, the show dvds were sitting on my kitchen table, and I've been watching it all week when listener made the announcement. . . . mebbe there really ARE no coincidences?
So, you’ve never seen the 10 seasons of Friends? My goodness, I thought I was the only person in America that never began watching it until after tte 10th season ended.
