In all my living with cats years, the single most intensely loving cat I ever had was a totally black one. If I was sitting in this chair, she'd jump up onto my knees and start kneading with her claws, and purring and drooling until her whole front was soggy and dripping. Her name was Heidegger, but she was always called just digger.
One time, when Thankful was visiting here, she asked to borrow my computer as her laptop was floundering, and sat in this chair. Digger jumped right up onto her knees and she began kneading. She stopped almost immediately, looked up, jumped up, jumped off and stalked upstairs after giving me a dirty look. She didn't come down again until after Thankful had gone home. Several days later.
This is from a few days back, but whenever it occurs to me, I have the same thought: "The Devil can quote Scripture for his purpose."
