My Christmas pudding tastes a little different from my mom's, if memory serves me well after 60 years or so. I think I figured out why--she made it with commercial Thompson Seedless raisins, and I used our home-made Princess raisins. All in all, a worthwhile experiment. As I was mixing the ingredients I became more and more doubtful that the batter would fit into the pudding basin, but it did. (I had ordered the larger choice--1.6 litera = 6.75 cups.)
I think I read a prediction last night of another one to three feet of snow in Buffalo. And reports of people found frozen to death in their cars. Total deaths related to the storm reported to be about 25 when I checked this morning. Continuing light rain here. ----Alan
Buffalo always gets a lot of snow. It's ideally situated for the lake effect. Chicago sometimes gets lake effect snow, but the wind isn't from the NNE that often.
We lived in Erie, PA for one year. Mind you, we lived in NH before that. They g out t soooo much snow and days when it didn’t snow it was clouded over. A really somber Winter. The following year we lived in Virginia, not too far from where puddle lives now (both locations were related to Wil’s work). It was 72°F Christmas week! So we made a surprise visit to Wil’s parents’ house in Maine…where it was -40°F (not counting wind chill!). We are so happy that we then moved here to Vermont. Sunshine in Winter as well as gorgeous snowfall and not too hot or too cold, but just right. 🥰
Light rain here this morning; yesterday the prediction for today was for 0.3 inches, today it is 1.2 inches. Mostly rain predicted for the next ten days. Can't complain. ---Alan P.S.: I have been plagued with post-nasal drip and phlegm for a long time. I found on YouTube a suggestion from a respiratory therapist to treat it by gargling with warm salt water several times per day, and darned if that doesn't seem to work.
Interesting. I have had a runny nose and post-nasal drip (i.e. chronic rhinitis) gradually worsening since childhood. These days I treat it with a steroid nasal spray.
I had a doctor recommend the steroid nasal spray several years back, and I didn't like the idea. I found an herbal nasal spray with great reviews, and that did a good job for me. I suspect that I had a sinus infection that doctors hadn't recognized, and that was cured by the herbal spray; I went from using three handkerchiefs per week to three weeks for one handkerchief. But it didn't do much for the postnasal drip and coughing up phlegm, which seems to have recently become worse. The salt water gargle (half a teaspoon of salt in a medium-sized cup of water warmed in the microwave oven) has helped a lot, and the price is right! ---Alan

Russian foreign minister gives Ukraine ultimatum over 4 occupied regions From CNN's AnneClaire Stapleton::
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Monday that Ukraine must fulfil Moscow's proposals regarding their "new territories" — or the Russian military would take action, according to Russian state news agency TASS.
"The enemy is well aware of our proposals for the demilitarization and denazification of the regime-controlled territories and the elimination of threats to Russian security from there, including our new territories (the DNR, LNR, and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions)," Lavrov said, repeating false accusations of Nazism against Ukraine used by Moscow in an attempt to justify its invasion. "There is just one thing left to do: to fulfill them before it's too late. Otherwise the Russian army will take matters into its own hands. "With regard to the duration of the conflict, the ball is now in the court of Washington and its regime. They can stop this futile resistance at any moment." The four occupied territories: Russia claimed control over the four regions of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson after sham referendums in September, widely slammed by Kyiv and Western governments as violating international law.

Who else’s first thought was The Borg in Star Trek?!
“Resistance is futile.”
Egads. Russia could stop this illegal war and barbaric, horrendous aggression at any moment, simply by going home!
They keep calling Ukrainians Nazis, too. Bullies often call their perceived enemy the thing within themselves that they most fear.

Probably most of the state.
