Heh. Those look like the trees I notched my house to fit around. This notch lasted longer that ten years before we took it out, and cut the trees down. Not for noth is my local nickname THE TREE LADY.
I sue a cell phone occasionally, especially when I am out of town. I never experience those problems. Of course I just hold the phone to my head as intended.
Well, I couldn't read past the first couple paragraphs, but can attest that we never have issues hearing, whether at the ear or on speakerphone. My only difficulty is that if I leave that screen while talking, I often can't get back to the phone screen, even though I can still hear and talk. So, to hang up I have to turn my phone off! LOL.
I remember an old story about a fellow who decided to get a telephone (allegedly in WVa). When the installer showed up he asked where the customer wanted it, and the old guys pointed out a tree well away from the house; the installer said "but then you won't be able to hear it ring!" The old fellow said "I'm getting it so I can make phone calls, not so others can call me."
The best laid plans.... I came downstairs with a two-page list of chores to do to find out that our microwave has died (sob). So now my son and I have to go off to Lowe's to buy a new one because we use it a lot. Oh well, I cleaned off the "baking center" where the microwave goes and got rid of extraneous things. (Swedish death cleaning). I have two ceramic tiles for pizza and stuff that I bought 18 years ago and NEVER USED. So off they go to the thrift store. And it's amazing how much dust and dirt can build up *behind* heavy furniture.
Argh! Our micro died recently too. We went to Lowe's and Best Buy, but they had nothing that would work. We needed a really small one. So we bought the near-smallest, simplest one we could find...and it works great! It's still large enough to hold a full size plate. This one
I noticed an article yesterday (but didn't read it) saying that the mechanisms of all microwaves are made by the same company, but there are signficant differences on the outside. I remember a store that sold reconditioned old microwaves (Mostly Amana Radar Ranges from the 1950's as I recall) that were really gorgeous.
It does! And when it's done turning there is just one loud ping, not as series of them, and it doesn't keeping pinging once per minute. I like that too.
Our electricity went off about 0930 and we got a phone call from the utility company saying it would be off until 12:30, but it came back on about 10:30. That's OK. We used to have more power failures than recently-- probably the equipment from the 1940's has all been replaced.

DeletePS: We really like that it has dials instead of push-buttons. It's so easy to use.

DeleteP.S.: I prefer the dials too.
DeleteOh, I see it has a turntable too!
