  1. Predicted high temperature today 103F or 105F, depending on source. Not quite a record high, but unarguably hot. Electric company asking us to save electricity from 4 to 9 PM.

  2. Biden Is Weighing Executive Action To Protect Abortion Access If Roe Is Overturned [Click] I don’t understand how that would work, but that’s above my pay grade.

  3. A lot at politicalwire.com about the televised hearing. [Click] Quotation:

“Tonight, I say this to my Republican colleagues who are defending the indefensible: There will come a day when Donald Trump is gone, but your dishonor will remain.”

    — Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), quoted by the Washington Post.

  4. Using phosphorus from sewage could help with soaring food bills, says report [Click] “Extracting the chemical used in fertilisers from waste rather than mining it could also help reduce pollution.” No mention of how it is to be done, which is not clear to me. Maybe a specialized semipermeable membrane.

    1. From the comments:
“If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.” -- President Dwight D. Eisenhower (R), March 6, 1956

    2. If the first hearing is any indication, I think they should offer the whole thing as a DVD box set.

    3. DVDs are being phased out in favour of streaming services. Bah!
But a DVD set would make a pretty good fundraiser!

  7. Bill— I just saw this IL GOP Governor race poll. [Click] I looked up the Wikipedia article on the leader, and he sure seems to be a job of work.

    1. Thanks, Alan. I haven't read today's paper yet. The results seem more than a bit surprising -- most reports had suggested Irvin had a slight lead. But I don't think any of the Republicans have a real chance this year.

  8. Hey! puddle fell!! 😵‍💫

But she's okay. It happened inside the house. Waiting to hear if a rib is actually broken, but she still has all her buttons and all that. I just spoke with her and she sounds good. Says she loves you all. Says Starlink might actually work for her, but that Elon Musk has daydreams that don't always work. Fiber Optics was supposed to come to her house, but they're all waiting for the WVA legislature to appropriate some money. She's just a few hundred feet from a cable, too. So frustrating! Anyway, she's going to see if her son can at least update her Firefox browser. She can't BE on dialup long enough for it to update. But she IS reading the blog! (Everybody say hi!). 😊

    1. Hi, puddle! We don't bounce as well as we used to! I had a fall about a week ago, not significantly the worse for wear--it looked a lot more impressive than it actually was. If you are anywhere near a cell phone tower, that link I posted for you the other day might be helpful--more so than Starlink. Let listener know if you can't open it and I will send the link in plain text so you can communicate it to your son.

    2. No need to fiddle around; here it is in plain text (if the internet gods permit):

    4. I doubt puddle can open and watch a 23min video. But she can convey the link to her son.
