  2. I have invited three friendly, longtime bloggers (Pat, Brenda and "Whitsun") to see if they can get into this blog. They have been blogging with me and puddle over at Jo's old BFA 4.0 blog, but Pat (and puddle, I think) can't seem to post there anymore. So, this way puddle could at least read all the posts...until we can figure out a place where she can post too. Please welcome them if they try to pop by. Thanks!

    1. Maybe the Whale Sharks dive deep just for the fun of it? Y'know...because they can. Or maybe it's because they used to need to go that low to get their food, but that's no longer necessary. But I like the thought of it just being fun.

    2. Like basking sharks, they are filter feeders. Testing sea water for whale shark DNA has show that there are far more of them out there than had been thought. But none of that is any reason they shouldn't have fun!

  4. This is a reasonable and well written article by a former police officer, who also sold guns.
Opinion: Here's the reason people tell me they want to buy an AR-15

    1. A good article, excellent solution under the circumstances. I will send it along to my non-senile Senator. One thing he omits (maybe because he never had to deal with it) is that the bullets cause far greater damage to the human body than, say, those of deer rifles. Whereas a bullet from a typical firearm goes through the things it hits, the AR-15 type bullet hits with such force that it produces a cone of force that tears apart tissues it never touches.

    3. Thank you, Alan. I sent letters to my two Senators and my Rep (Bernie, Leahy and Peter Welch). They, of course, are already advocates, but they do need the power of our letters behind them.

  5. How to watch the January 6 Select Committee Hearings starting June 9. On most TV networks and CSPAN - but not Fox.
“Major television networks including ABC, CBS, CNN, and NBC/MSNBC are expected to air the hearings in full or in part, especially the hearings scheduled for primetime hours in the evening.
The hearings will also be live-streamed and available to watch in full on C-SPAN and on the Select Committee's YouTube channel.” https://youtube.com/c/January6thCmte.

    1. ^ Oh! Silly me. I didn't realise I'd posted that using Safari instead of Chrome. Sigh.

  7. The mail voting in California this year is way down, evidently because of races that attract little attention. The national press is trying to make big deals out of a couple of local races-- Mayor in Los Angeles and District Attorney in San Francisco.

    3. For me, participating here is therapeutic; I try to work in some variety. The link I posted at the top of this thread is one of my better finds, I think.

    4. Oops---Amomynous is Alan. For some reason Blogger doesn't recognize me at the moment.

  9. Wow, I've never seen that before. At the top, in front of the HEP link, was the word "Dangerous" in red! I got out and in again and it's gone. 🤷🏻‍♀️ (Geesh, you'd think Blogger was Republican or something.)

    1. I have at times seen "Not Secure," but not "Dangerous." Should I feel flattered? [He ducks]

  11. Blogger will let me post, but not edit. And I do not proofread well enough.
