VT*Grand (nearly 14) arrives today and is staying two nights!! YAY!! That will be the most we've seen her since Covid began. Sweet that she is fully vaccinated now.
No smell of smoke here, no ash falling from the sky. Toward the north it just looks like low-lying clouds, maybe very slightly off-white. Very slightly colored low haze to the west, and to the east (only visible from our street down to an elevation of maybe thirty degrees) it just looks like clouds, which is not unusual.
I'm sure that what they have to see and deal with must be pretty awful. And remember the story from last week, of the fireman who carried his own daughter's body out of the wreckage.
I checked the left-over alcohol-infused plums I tossed at the base of the peach tree yesterday; they are still there, no sign of a drunken revel by the squirrels, more's the pity. . .

That initial cloud of smoke was spectacular, even at a distance of thirty miles or so. But the foothill area is notorious for its fire risk.

5PM and the air seems less clear, presumably because of smoke. Air Quality Index edging up, but still "moderate."
