Alan, speaking of heat, I was home (SLC) one summer and everyone was whining about how HOT it was. I thought, yeah, it's about 90°, no big deal, Sissies. Turned out it was 116° and the hottest recorded since the Mormons had arrived. I'd gotten used to the DC area humidity, I guess, lol!
In the Chicago area the humidity can be either relatively high or quite moderate, depending on exactly where the weather is coming from. A few weeks ago it was in the 80s and stifling, especially in my upstairs office. This past week it has been low 90s but fairly comfortable out of direct sunlight. It's now dropped back into the 70s or low 80s for the coming days.
The humidity varies throughout the day, maybe around 18% in the afternoon, and 35% in the morning as memory serves me. But remember that a blast furnace also has "dry" heat!
"More than 23,000 people have signed one Change.org petition titled: "Do not allow Jeff Bezos to return to Earth."
"Billionaire's should not exist...on earth, or in space, but should they decide the latter they should stay there," the petition's description said.
Some signatories gave a reason for signing the petition, which included comments such as "being let back into Earth is a privilege - not a right," and "Earth don't want people like Jeff, Bill [Gates], Elon [Musk] and other such billionaires."
The problem with any accumulant (yes, I know that is not a word) is that when it reaches a certain volume, it is difficult to manage and almost impossible to dispose of. Accumulation takes much less time than disposition. That is why the tax code should be fixed to assure the circulation of currency. While even the Treasury has some difficulty dispersing large quantities timely, it can simply store the stuff, or cancel it with a computer click, the same way it created the $2 billion in the rescue packege. Dollars are IOUs and IOUs are worthless unless passed around.
I've kinda been AWOL, what with 3 young grands here all weekend. Plus I came down with a viral sore throat which seems to be the start of a real cold...which I think I picked up from the little one last weekend. So it's been a challenge and I have 3 meetings on Monday. Will tell more when I can...but all in all it was a GOOD weekend just the same...! Photos to follow as well.
Happy Fathers' Day to all you daddies!
ReplyDeleteThanks, puddle.

ReplyDeleteDo you have high or low humidity?

DeleteDC has avg 64% year round, and is pretty much *always* over 50%. And plenty of 90% afternoons. . . .
DeleteThat'd be 60s year round except April and May.

I continue to think it is admirable that he has such confidence in his product, but it would be interesting if that confidence were ill-founded.

ReplyDeleteHannah, I LOVE that word "accumulant". Such a perfect descriptor.
