  1. So, it seems I have a WordPress account as "listenerVT". I went to the HowardEmpowered WordPress site and it seems to have run from about March through October 2006. I don't think I ever saw it back then, and I don't see any comments from me on it...except that I just made one on the first "Hello" blog post. LOL. But it does still work.

Am I correct, Renee, that anyone with a WordPress account could create a new blog post for folks to comment on?

puddle! You had some posts on that WordPress account! Do you still have your login data?

    Catreona is mentioned too.

But there are some troubling posts as well, from names I'm sure aren't one of us. So, can anyone worldwide get in and infiltrate the blog? And what is needed to get rid of ads. Is there a fee?

    1. Okay, I found out some info. There would be ads and limited storage space unless we pay $8/month ($96/year). Thoughts?

    2. I don't know enough to say very much, but could pay my share of that much if it is the general consensus to move there.

    3. I would be willing to pay the entire fee. But I think we would want posting to be limited to members, as is true for most of the Facebook groups I am a member of. It would be a serious drawback if we couldn't do that. But maybe that's one of the perks that comes with a paid site?

    4. I checked it out when Renee mentioned it and it does look vaguely familiar. Certainly I'd chip in if a move there proves practical.

    5. I haven't used a Wordpress blog in forever. I *think* it would be similar to Blogger in that certain people are designated as contributors and can make front page posts.

Generally, anyone with an account can make comments, but there are limits to who can make front page posts. It might be best just to start from scratch and create a new blog. In terms of design, I hadn't done anything fancy with it at all. Apparently I created an affiliate page (NO recollection of this) but the links on that don't work properly any more.

    6. The question remains as to whether folks outside our HEP circle could access the blog there or if there are ways to limit who can see it. Does anyone know?

  5. Deborah Birx CBS Sunday morning interview. [Click] What seems particularly amazing to me is her remarkable incoherence. And she talks about being “transparent”!

  7. https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/better-sleep-post-biden-inauguration-021925449.html

From the article: "Hafeez acknowledges that the results of the 2020 election show that we are “still a divided country.” But she says that the entire U.S. population “left to right has been so wired up for the past four years with a person at its helm who wielded conflict and anger to his benefit.” Hafeez calls Biden “the polar opposite” of Trump. “Finally seeing someone in the White House who is a stabilizing, measured, empathetic and humble force is in and of itself a calming experience,” she says.

Adding to the stress was the “chaotic climax” of the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6 when “our entire nation sat glued to the TV experiencing all sorts of feelings from anxiety to grief to anger, worry and shock,” says Hafeez, “and what you’ll find is that the calm inauguration ceremony, the calls for unity, the immediate operations of holding press conferences where the media is not antagonized, give hope to people that we have stable leadership that is not going to fan the flames and instead will hopefully look to find common ground.”

As birth rates fall, animals prowl in our abandoned 'ghost villages' [Click] At the same time, and in roughly the same time span, many great coastal cities will relocate to higher locations, generally inland. The interactions will be very interesting, although we will not live to see them play out.

    3. Unfortunately all the rest of my problems with Blogger remain...I can still only COMMENT on my computer on Chrome specifically. The issue is that below the comments box is supposed to be a little button that says "Sign out" or "Sign in." That box is missing everywhere but here, and I am unable to get the "Reply as" box to let me type my blogger address and password. So strange. But maybe Blogger is working on it yet.

I'm satisfied that we have the "Delete" button back! Let's stay here for now. WordPress is Plan B if Blogger craps out.

    1. So that's two browsers where I can sign in with my Google account. And Chrome works for listener, so that's three. Doesn't sound like a browser issue.

    2. Well, it's not quite that way for me. I can sign in on Safari, but when I do it shunts me off to the page where new posts are created. And I can read the blog. It just won't let me comment. Think of that: It lets me into the guts of this site, but won't let me comment.
