    2. I was impressed when she mentioned that she was delighted to be able to contribute, which she had never been able to do. . . .

Reminded me of the dustup that ended with me leaving the Ethical Society. We had a spring auction, so sent scouts to craft shows to get the crafters to donate their work to be auctioned off, proceeds to be given to charity. I raised the issue of whether people making $70,000 a year and up should be begging from people who on average made about $17,000--that they could run a craft show of their own and donate the proceeds of *that* to charity. Problem was, they had no one who wished to do the work for a craft show, and lots of volunteers to go to big shows and beg craftspeople. . . . And, yes, the crafters were delighted to give. Problem is the way *their* income tax returns worked, they could only deduct the cost of their materials, not their time/expertise. . . . so something that sold for say $400, they could only deduct $7 on their taxes. . . .

I'd just started *being* a craftsperson, and was so outraged, I went off and found a new spiritual home--the Quakers. . . .

BTW, our Bernie maker will be able to deduct the full $20+ thou rather than the cost of her yarn. . . .

Well, we got our Delete button back.
So now the weird thing Blogger is doing is that when I go to the list of threads with thumbnails, and click to open one of them (such as to edit it), instead of showing me the preview Blogger just shows me the ascii data that will create the photos. I've never seen that before!
One has to click "Preview" to get to the preview. But you can't edit from that screen. It's going to make editing a real PITA.

I don't grok what you mean, Listener. When you insert a photo, you see a preview of the photo in order to let you select it. Then there's a little wizard thingy that lets you choose layout/positioning, that is left, center, right. If memory serves at some point you also choose size, that is small, medium, large. From then on, all you see is the HTML for the photo, as for example < img src="photo.jpg" alt="My Cat" > That's the way it's always been as far as I remember.
Yes, when you select "Edit" to edit a post, you see the HTML for the photo together with any text. Again, this is normal. You edit the post and then select "Preview" to, well, preview it. Preview and edit are and always have been separate functions. What is it that's upsetting you?

    1. Well, it has NEVER been that way for me before now. Always, I could click on a thumbnail and up would come post showing photos to edit. NOW, I have to get it right the first time because now my choices are the Preview-only screen or the html version and no way to edit the photos once I post them the first time.

Instead of today's photos that can be edited for size or location on the page, all I see is html gobbledegook.
I think I'll go back to ONE photo at a time, incase I have to start from scratch.

    2. Like other HTML tags, the IMG tag has attributes which can be adjusted. In the example above I gave the ALT tag, which is used to provide a brief 'alternate description' for an image.

One attribute is obligatory, the SRC (for 'source')attribute. This gives the url (path) for where the image is located. The other attributes that are usually included are HEIGHT and WIDTH. You can use absolute values for these, usually px (for pixels) or percent, thusly: "height=445 px" "width=445 px" or "height=45%" "width="45%".

There is some trial and error involved, but it is easy enough to adjust the numbers in the HEIGHT and WIDTH attributes, save and preview. It is possible to leave the preview windo open and refresh it after making changes to the HTML in the editor. It's not much of a PITA at all. After a while you'll get a feel for the sizes you need.
