LOL! I generally sit in a rocker when offering spiritual guidance exactly because the kitties are more likely to keep their distance and not attempt to take over the meeting with their wiles.
However, that is often not quite sufficient. They have been known to sniff sandaled toes or to get up on the couch behind the seeker and sniff their hair! It can be a bit distracting when we are in prayer or the person is relating something personal. Then there's the times they waltz into the room meowing for attention, circling my chair like sharks.
"The Boomer establishment thinks the opposite, rubbishing the frustrations of the Millennials as naive follies. They see the squad—the name the four freshman congresswomen endorsed by the Justice Democrats, all progressive women of color, have chosen for themselves—on a trajectory that loses the party the white voters it needs to win in 2020."
That sure seems like a racist view to me. They'll lose the support of white voters if progressive women of colour speak out? And why would that happen? So they're basically concerned that they'd lose the votes of white racist voters? Really? That's their big concern??
I'm with you, Alan. We've waited at least twice as long as the Millennial Left has waited. We've waited far too long.
The part outside the paywall looks promising, listener. [Note: The Globe's paywall works well-- it's not easy to circumvent.] I am reminded of the crowd when Bernie campaigned here in Fresno four years ago. The conventional media were all full of how he only attracted Millenials, but I saw everyone from children to young adults to people in their nineties.
Alan, I seldom can get into a Globe article, but this one let me in! I googled "failure of the American Dream" and the author's last name and the link opened...!
I suspect that the web site puts a cookie on the computer that accesses it to keep track of how many articles have been read from there using that browser. You probably haven't accessed the Globe quite as often on your iPhone as on your computer. I will try your title and author search; come to think of it, I believe I have used it before.
