Hi puddle and everybody. Wicked hot and humid here, though not as bad as other places. Mostly I've been cooking up a storm over the last several days. Mostly using the crockpot. Found a great teriyaki chicken recipe and everybody liked it. I don't eat chicken, so I'm taking their word for it.
Today my sister and BIL are providing dinner, so I'm planning to spend the next couple of hours sewing kids' clothes and also tote bags. We'll see how much I get done!
So I'm sewing away and CLUNK! the machine breaks. I am fortunate to have more than one, so I was able to finish the totes, but definitely ate up some of my sewing time.
What I would really love is a nap, but I'm expecting family soon so that's out.
As I sit here working on the last bit of embroidery for the King Size Wedding Quilt, I miss my treadle and think I could appreciate a verrrryyy sllloooowwww sewing machine. I hear Brother makes one for about $200. Some other year.
BTW, the last bit of embroidery is: fireworks! And as I sew I can hear some of the small, local sort going off around us. :-) Tomorrow evening we're going to watch the big kind.
Yes, we've had night time fireworks last night and tonight. Suppose we'll here them along after the 4th is over. We usually do.
I learned how to sew on a treadle as a young 'un. Have lusted in my heart for a treadle machine for a long time. Finally reasoned myself out of the lusting by telling myself that hand sewing is even more basic, more portable and WAY cheaper. I did love that treadle though.
Had the local kind last night. For me that's all. I could go up to the navy base, I guess, but not likely. Puppy not at all worried by the booms, though. And was chasing moths on the porch tonight, lol!
Yeah, if sumbuddy was to give me a treadle, I surely wouldn't turn it down. That's how I learned, too. My sister who doesn't sew got my mom's. Maybe she will learn, someday.
Mother Nature seems to want to get in on all the fireworks! Massive thunderstorm underway here. (Yes, I'm unplugged.) We lost power for about a half minute, so we'll see whether we keep it or not now.
Howard remains first on this first Sun Day of July!
ReplyDeletePretty day. Green. Sunny. A tad warm: already 80ยบ ~~ but turned the A/C on on the way down this morning, with the hope of drying it out a bit.
ReplyDeleteHave been at work on the stones for the terrace. Shaping up nicely, but very slow work. Luckily, all the materiel is FREE Free free!

Oh, dear! You and Tanya, lol! I gave both of mine away about five years ago. Now all of my sewing is hand sewing -- which I love.
ReplyDeleteYup, I love hand sewing too, but sometimes I feel the need for speed.

Still storming. So far, so good, though.
