That is an absolutely darling photo, listener. I love it! May have to steal it.
Thanks for passing on Renee's message. That's a great relief.
"Quite so. The ability of computers to know when there lack of cooperation will be most effective is uncanny! " Bill, coming from you, a Science writer, this observation is particularly piquant. I'm glad not to be the only one who has noticed this.
Not an all time deal, but I think since Echo commenting. There was a period there, at the height of the Oler debacle when HEP was averaging more posts per thread than the BBB.

Echo doesn't like puddle's comment for some reason. The whole area around the comment is yellow and there is a faint, tiling, "biohazard" symbol. Same thing happened with one of listener's comments the other day.
I think it's some sort of heads-up to me that I should pay special attention to a given comment as far as moderation.
Sure wish I could figure out how to add moderators.
We ended up going to the zoo after all, because E (Daughter's online friend) really wanted to go. (At first his mom and I were discussing a "Plan B" since it was raining this morning.)
The rain let up, but it was beastly humid. I had already told Demetrius that, the way my multitasking had been pushed way beyond my limits lately, this was the sort of day where I was likely to do something like absent-mindedly leaving my keys in the freezer.
I surpassed my own expectations. I absent-mindedly left my wallet at home.
Daughter's friend, G, who was accompanying her (with me being the "responsible adult" who made that okay with her parents, paid her way in to the zoo as I was scrambling to find my wallet. They met up with E--whose mom was NOT with him at the time, but elsewhere in the zoo with E's brother. G lent me the money to get in--Daughter came outside the gate to hand me the money, but then took off with G and E (and no adult) and were at the other end of the zoo before I could finally catch up with them.
D called me and said he would be bringing my wallet to the zoo, because that was all the money G had. Once I caught up with the kids, I told them that we needed to make our way to the gate so that I could get my wallet from Demetrius.
They then zoomed *way* ahead of me--barely in shouting distance--and I tripped on uneven pavement and almost fell down (which surely would have resulted in skinned knees--I *am* an old hat at that sort of thing) but fortunately caught myself in time.
The way I stumbled drew concerned "are you okay?" queries from people in my vicinity. This of course did NOT include the kids I was responsible for, but only allowed them to gain more distance on me.
By the time Demetrius arrived, I had decided f#@& this, handed him my admission ticket (no name was attached to it), and told him HE could stay for the "fun" in my place.
Also thankful that Brady's able to stand today (he couldn't yesterday) and I got to talk to a supervisor at Son's summer program and things genuinely seem to be going well. (We hadn't heard any complaints, but so often in the past--when we thought no news was good news--it turned out teachers were just saving them up to unload them all on us at once.
So what was up with those two running ahead?! That was clearly not part of the program. I think they owe you an apology. At my house that would be the last time Child in Residence would get taken seriously about pulling together such an arrangement. We give them the benefit of the doubt, but if they decide to run ahead of grace (or Mom), they trip themselves up!
When we had all arrived home, and he said he "had a talk with her", I somehow managed to keep from screaming (the She-Hulk avatar was my substitute for that sort of release). But I retained enough composure to successfully convince Good Cop that there really needed to be an actual consequence this time. And he agreed to one. An itty bitty one, but slightly more memorable than the hundred or so "talks" that have occurred over the past few years.
I saved a screen cap to send you. I thought it was either the word in all caps or the exclamation points. Just a guess as to what might seem suspicious *to a computer*. No idea really.
Whooo. some day. I just got home at 11pm and I open the Library in the morning. I'm beat!
But it was nice to get to run some errands today (bird seed, quilting thread, birthday books) then visit another Library (where the lone staff member is not at all anal about how the new, gorgeous library is run!!!), then on to a Harp Concert where I was asked by one of the two performing harpists to take photos! Fun!!
Then I came home and found some super sad news in my email Inbox. A woman I met when I worked at the Bookshop, who has been praying for Ally all this time and asked me to keep her on the Ally Updates list, is tonight in Hospice. She had breast cancer some years ago and was in remission, then got more cancer this past year. I knew her news was not good but didn't know how fast this had progressed. She is younger than me. Maybe 48? Her name is Holly and her sister writes that Holly is in her last few days (no longer receiving visitors). Please tuck into your hearts and prayers this lovely woman who HAD to have Ally updates. (She was able to know in recent months that Ally was doing great and was so happy about that.)
Howard's first.
ReplyDeleteI want that poppy. I want that rain.

Well, yes!
ReplyDelete"Warm" here, and busier than a cat on a "warm" tin roof. No need to send out the St. Bernards. Woof! And soon to bed.
And, oh yes, sixty-one comments is most impressive! May be a record.
ReplyDelete=Whew!= I was noticing that we didn't get to 61 comments yesterday with benefit of some Alan postings. So glad to hear you're still ticking. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt is at least a record for the year. I'll bet we could break that record with a wee bit of effort. ;-)

Hello? Is anybody home?

Quite right! You clearly were totally stressed out. So glad you didn't fall!
ReplyDelete*hug*
It may just be Echo being ornery. Once in a while one of my comments looks like it's going to go through but then doesn't.
ReplyDeleteSome days it seems like one thing goes wrong and everything else follows suit. Letting Demetrius take over with a fresh start was a good move.
ReplyDeleteUh oh. Will be here to listen. ♥
ReplyDeleteI posted a biohazard comment? Cool! I wonder what i said! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks (heart thingie)

ReplyDeleteJust to add that as a Mom one of my favourite realities of life is Consequences.
ReplyDeleteYes, it was.

Off to bed. I *am* determined to do water aerobics in the morning. Missed out this morning because I was having so much fun at the zoo. :-P
ReplyDeleteSad news.
ReplyDeleteGood night, Renee. Sweet dreams!
ReplyDeleteListener it all sounds lovely, especially the harp concert, except the last part. I'm so sorry. ♥
