The Root Center...in progress!

It's ALL planted now. The next step is to clean up the rows a bit, then to put up a 35' dome in the center. It's not the aquaponics dome they need to feed folks year 'round, but it will serve as a good place to house information and supplies...and may even be used for a Vermont Youth Orchestra concert, with chairs set concentrically on the straw between the rows.

  1. Howard Dean is First, and folks who do Dean-like projects, like growing food for those in need, are most firstliest!

  3. Alan, I'm glad Miyoko is healing well!

On my night stand presently is a book so well written it reminds me of some of the works of Nikos Kazantzakis. It is called The Forty Rules of Love: A Novel of Rumi by Elif Shafak. It's well worth reading!!

  4. Anything related to Rumi ["The Roman," after the Arabic name for Anatolia, even long after the Eastern Roman Empire had collapsed] should be good for the spirit. I can't really internalize his symbolism, but it is clearly mysticism within the context of an Abrahamic religion. If I were to be a Moslem, surely I would be Sufi. I think he ought to be quite accessible to Christians and Jews, at least those who are not decidedly exoteric.

I found this at the Atlantic:

  5. Another sweet, coolish day. Brighter than yesterday, and just a skosh warmer. Sweet indeed.

listener, that sewing machine from a couple of threads ago? GOOD price! And gorgeous machine! (checked eBay for comps) Wish you could have it, too!

  8. The thing about true mystics is that they see to the heart, and so honour true faith wherever they find it and in whatever form. They are open to all faiths, thus accessible by all faiths.

  11. Thanks for the Ally update, puddle and listener. I haven't been keeping up with my Ally candles the way I'd like to, and the updates remind me it's been too long.

  12. Renee, thanks for coming by and knowing you could talk with us. ♥

If it helps at all, in my experience teens begin to "check out" of family life as they get closer to leaving. But they get very interested in family life again in their 20's. It's amazing how much smarter their parents get after they've had to make their own spaghetti for a few years.

Prayers especially for your employment situation. We've been underemployed for too long at our house so I definitely send our hearts out to you. ♥

  13. Susan...thanks for the Ally candles, whenever you remember them.
I'm not always good about the candles, myself.
I do have two other ways I keep in touch with Ally's Mom, though,
and I guess I forget sometimes to use all three ways.
