  2. Well Boxing Day dawned drab and cold. Just a scosh more snow, but certainly no blizzard. Glad I have no where to go. Missing my phone call today 'cause Christmas moved dialysis back a day.

  3. Puddle, sorry you aren't feeling well, but glad you had a lovely, quiet Christmas Day.

listener, it sounds like you had a lovely day too, but I'm glad you're home. Get well, would you please?

We finally got some snow today. "I'm dreaming of a white Boxing Day?" I think not. *sigh* However, we had a delicious Christmas dinner and a nice, quiet day. Like Bill, I spent the evening reading. A friend of Sis' suggested she try Fallen, so she downloaded it from Audible, but I'm the one who ended up reading it. Told her I didn't think she would like it. But, I got the sequel, which is called Torment. That's what I spent last evening reading. Donno why, really. They aren't anywhere near as good as the Twilight books. But, there it is.

Esme Kitty has been growing more lethargic and unresponsive over the past few days. She sleeps a lot more than usual too. But, she drinks water and remains affectionate, and overall seems content. I guess that's really all you can ask for.

  4. Acetaminophen pretty well took care of the "uckies" ~~ it was more the idea of driving in snow to AND fro on Christmas, when the road crews are at their lightest. . . . in a car with very unreliable heat. . . . on three hours sleep. Like I told the kid: a combo of things. . . .

I *did* have a lovely day, and they finally plowed the roads around three. A bit more snow since.

Neat Ally pics! I was struck by how much the doll house resembles her play house! And love that joyous little face!

  5. Have to re-download and install iTunes. I have no idear how the files got corrupted, but there it is. It's always something.

  6. GRR Reinstalled and get the same error messages. Fortunately, I don't use iTunes all that much. But, still, that's not the point. One likes the programs installed on one's computer to work!

  7. How frustrating!!

  8. I thought the same thing about the house, puddle!

I thought how it makes a good Winter play house while she waits for her big, outdoor house to be warm enough to hang out in again. :-)

  9. Last night I got 8 hours of sleep! Son stayed over and has stayed all day! :-) I made us a yummy breakfast of eggs, homefries, orange juice, and cranberry-apple-walnut pancakes with maple syrup. Mmmm. This evening he bought us pizza.

We watched the SNL 25th reunion, and now we have Sound of Music on the telly. We've had a few light flurries but are expecting only 3-7". I'm good with that. Family in Kennebunk is expecting 12-20" and they're delighted. :-) Something for everyone. Son and his intended decided to drive from NH to Worcester in the storm, to visit friends. Seems I always have at least one to pray for. Heh.

  10. Removed all Apple and iTunes programs, re-installed iTunes and now, for the moment, it seems to be going swimmingly, knock on wood.

  11. listener, I hope you hear from your wandering ones soon to ease your mind.

My goodness, if I lived at your house, I'd quickly gain fifty pounds. Surprised I don't gain that just hearing about your fabulous cooking.

  12. So, the snow is snowing and the wind is blowing. But I've got snugly kitties to keep me warm.

  13. I expected to work at Salt Mine No. 2 (the hospital until 4:00 PM today, but my relief showed up at 8:00 AM. I stayed until 10:00 AM to get my forty hours (there was work enough for two for nearly that length of time) and came home. Had lunch, shower, hit the sack and slept until 5:30 (I was up all night long). Thinking of seeing a movie this evening.

Gorgeous clear, sunny day--driving home I could see all the way across the San Joaquin Valley, which is unusual; the snow-covered [Sierra Nevada] mountains were spectacular.

  15. So then I almost forgot tonight's phone gathering of the Writers Division and got there late. But, it was copacetic. Robert and everybody were all cool about it. And, the puzzle master was a lot more fun than I'd expected.

Then, when I got off the phone, I discovered that something was wrong with Fire Fox and it needed to be re-installed. Fortunately, that wasn't difficult or time consuming. But, Thunderbird still isn't sending or receiving. That may have to do with the wireless signal consistently showing at very low or none. But, I can get on the Internet, thank goodness.

Does anyone know where to find Checkdisk? A message keeps popping up demanding that I run it, but I can't find it. I donno. It's like between when I shut down last night and when I booted up today the gremlins got in and had a wild party. Weird!

  16. Not bad at all; I am grateful for the extra rest tonight. Naomi just called; she seems fine. Nice weather in the SF Bay Area today also. More rain is on the way.

Wonderful photos of Ally. Thanks for sharing, listener.

Now to watch the newest restoration of Fritz Lang's Metropolis, complete with original orchestral score!

  17. Did I mention that I HATE echo? Just ate this response which was almost finished. . . .

Go to desktop, select my computer, double click. Right click on local disk and select properties from drop down menu. Select tools tab. Select error checking, tick off both boxes, and click start. You'll get an alarm notice saying it can't check the disk now because another program is running, would you like to do it the next time the computer starts? Click yes, and restart your computer. Mine takes about 45 minutes, and you can't do anything else with the computer while it works. Might take longer if you've never done it. AND, oh wait. Are you using '98 or XP? It's easier to find on '98, but harder to run. These are the directions for XP.

  20. Thanks for being one of the good folks who were present to help those in need on Christmas night, Alan. ♥ It's so good that your help arrived earlier than expected.

  21. LOL! Well, I did gain a pound over Christmas, with all the feasting, cookies and such. But as soon as I stop coughing so much it's back to the elliptical for me. :-)

  22. I've got a book calling me too. :-)

  23. Hey Cat....just heard that son and his sweetie made it to Worcester safe and sound.
He has a Subaru wagon. :-)

  24. My normal response would be to joke about my greed, listener--and I wouldn't be doing it for free. But there are emotional rewards. Once in a while one does do someone some real good, and one can live off that for a long time. Thank you.
