Even when it's past noon Central time, Howard is still first.

Got my income taxes done yesterday. Liked the results -- I won't have to make an estimated tax payment until September! Although given a bit of time, I'd like to go back and see why estimated payments for 2010 are so much lower than those for 2009.

Going to be working today, but the idea is to finish up what's on our plate and then take some time off.

  2. Imagine you, Bill, having some time off. What a concept! :)
That sounds like the perfect way to enjoy Spring!

Blessings upon all people beginning Holy Week and preparing for Passover. ♥

*On average* I'm not working all that much these days. It's mostly coming about to about the 60% of full-time that I'm getting paid for. But it comes and goes in a way that's not terribly predictable, which makes it kind of hard to plan my personal life.

  4. Little things excite me.... I made homemade whole wheat pitas today and they're perfect. I'm so proud of myself. 8-)

  5. It is indeed true that early morning is a relative term. I like Thankful's way of thinking.

    I missed Earth Hour. *sigh*

    It has gotten cold again.

  9. Yeah, we're in the same boat, Bill. We had four weeks straight with NO work at all, then 4 projects this past week. One more already on tap for this coming week, so that's something. But a month will pass with no checks coming in for our home business and we'll be eating thanks to my part-time Library Clerk work. Heh. Sure hope the economy picks up soon.

Please pat yourself on the back once for me! ♥

  11. LOL! Hubby has been getting up at noon and not getting to sleep until about 4:00am.

My coworker told me yesterday that she hasn't slept well all week...seeing lots of 4:00am.
Then my nephew-in-law in NH said he's been awake until 4:00am lately.

What's going on? Is it something in the atmosphere? Too much moonlight?

  12. It *could* be too much moonlight, lol! It was HUGE and bright when I went to bed, finally, at 3:30 this morning. . . .

I don't quite know how to respond about sleep. You seem to be describing people who have trouble falling asleep. Never been a problem for me. But in recent years, when I get up to go to the bathroom after 5-6 hours, getting back to sleep is iffy. Usually I mange somewhat fitful sleep and sleep late enough it's roughly a night. But sometimes I'm just wide awake and find myself getting up early. And even on nights when the clock says I got enouigh sleep and more, I often find a siesta helpful.

What's going on? My guess would be a combindation of work pressure and age, with the latter more important. Older people's afternoon naps are notorious.

  14. Yep. Since at least adolescence I've had trouble going to sleep at night. My sleep seems to be better in the morning, if I can get to sleep in the first place. It's been getting later and later over the past few months. It's a pity, because I love morning, especially the quality of morning sunlight, especially in the Summer. Insomnia can be debilitating. It is certainly disorientating. But, at least I get a lot of reading done. *wry Grin*

Been reading The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Storm Front, Fool Moon and just started No. 3, Grave Peril. When Sis first told me about them she quoted a review that said they were like Sam Spade meets Gandalf. Today she quoted one saying they're like The Rockford Files meets Harry Potter. That one's spot on AFAIC. I'm enjoying them. I've also been reading Death By Black Hole, a colection of essays by Neil DeGrasse(sp?) Tyson. He's an excellent explainer and popularizer. If only he weren't such a verulent Pluto hater!

  15. Yep.. Bill. That says it for me, too. It's rare that I can't fall asleep...as soon as I get comfortable, I'm out. But once I wake up, going back to sleep is difficult. I never worried about it when I was home all day...just took a nap. Now that I work at the Library, though, I have to be more intentional about staying in bed until I've had the equivalent of at least 7 hours of sleep. Last night I got 9! Off to sleep right now, actually. Under the Wing...! :)
