Didn't finish the work Sunday, partially because Mohan and I weren't fully on the same page about the timeline for doing various things. Had Monday afternoon for catch-up (including candidate contributions), then we spen all Monday evening going through it together. And another hour this morning. But it's done. I took the opportunity this morning to tell Mohan I thought he was doing what every beginning writer is warned against: Continually trying to tweak nits that will never repay the time spent.
Bright sunny day with the temps pushing 60. Do you think spring is finally here?
The azalea flowers are about to burst out, but haven't yet. They're retarded by about a month. Our heat went on again today --set at 65. Not quite spring yet.
Donno. It's been cold and rainy here for two solid days. But the weather guy did say something this evening about temps in the mid 70's in the foreseeable future...
Loong Day! I was going to do some chores but now that I've taken Sydney for a long walk, a couple of episodes of Glee look pretty good instead.
My coworker in ILL is on vacation this week, so I've been doing pretty much the work of two. I have a 'helper,' but she's not exactly lightning fast. Still we managed to get through the two busiest days of the week.
LOL Puddle. Sometimes I'm just a conduit, not a conscious participant in the creative process. Case in point: I knew the kid was a native and that he was wearing a particular kind of jacket, but I didn't really *notice* either fact, much as Charlie would see but not particularly notice either fact. You've hit the nail on the head though about the difficulty of bringing to the reader's attention things that he eeds to know but that t he viewpoint character takes for granted. I remember a lot of discussion of just this problem in one of my writing workshops last year. It's a hard balance to strike... But, I think I just had an idear though. Something along the lines of "I let my eyes skim over..." or "I noted without interest..." Something like that might do in this case.
Even though Howard is first, that doesn't mean y'all can't come on board too. Anyway, Happy Tooosday to you.
ReplyDeletePhone line's acting up again. Last night and this morning have lost dial tone for hours. Do not call Sheriff C.

ReplyDeleteYeah, that is late. I recall azaleas being early bloomers in suburban NOVA.

ReplyDeleteThanks. Talking to you is always helpful!
