Rachel Maddow was on Colbert tonight...and was very encouraging about our chances for keeping our democracy. She said that people are protesting in every state every day. She said the people who, before the election, were sounding the loudest alarms turned out to be right. But she also said that no one expected We the People to be this engaged and determined this quickly and consistently. You might want to look for the clip and listen to it.
This week I learned that my upcoming dental appt was cancelled because my dentist...has left the practice...! I only learned this when I called to inquire about something. I really liked Dr. Emily, so I did a quick search and discovered she has moved to the very practice I left to be able to go to her...! LOL! So I just called and got back on their rolls *and* got an appt two days sooner than the previously scheduled appt. Bonus! Mind you, I'm not generally excited about a dental appointment, but I need a chipped tooth fixed, and she has fixed this very tooth before. Pretty funny how that all worked out. Best of all, this office is closer to home than the other.
All's well that ends well. Two breakfasts here today, and coffee [decaf, one cup]] tastes nearly normal. Plan to start editing meds today or tomorrow. Various MD's ordered four different types of non-opioid analgesics, none of which I need. -----Alan
I had my annual appointment with my retinal specialist this afternoon. No problems except I found out that the reason my eyes sometimes seem watery is that they are dry (weird, but tat's apparently the way it works). I'll be using artificial tears from now on. Experience with Dr. Larsen was the same as with listener's dentist: I got a notice that he had left the practive, but when I called the eye center where I see him I learned that he still came every Wednesday. He had just changed practices. Dreading the day my dentist retires. Can't imagine anyone else as good. My primary physician retires several years ago. The one I found to replace him is OK but not quite the same.
I'll have to check that out when I get a chance. We're in the middle of some chaos here as our neighbors are putting up a privacy fence. That required taking down the existing chain link fence, so, at the moment, our dogs can only go outside on leash. Pumpkin seems to have some sort of bladder issue (she has a vet appointment later today) and has to go out pretty often.
The vet gave us medication for Pumpkin's bladder infection, but showed us that she has stones that would best be treated surgically. We're supposed to get more details about that tomorrow.
