[Video that works as a radio broadcast] Konstantin Samoilov Interview —- Will Russian Economy Buckle & Break Before Western Resolve to Support Ukraine? [Click] An hour long, but has some newsworthy parts, particularly about previously quiet but powerful people who are now speaking out— as if Putin is losing power. Nice quote about Russian politics from Winston Churchill: It’s like a group of bulldogs fighting underneath a carpet. Will see if I can locate the exact quotation. ——Alan
“Kremlin political intrigues are comparable to a bulldog fight under a rug. An outsider only hears the growling, and when he sees the bones fly out from beneath it is obvious who won.” ― Winston S. Churchill
A little clearer this morning than yesterday, and the wind machines are not running; no mist in the river bottom. Reported overnight low only 37F. I see that the national Christmas tree in DC was blown over. ----Alan
There is a report that another Russian general [a major general] has died on or near the front; as memory serves me the Ukrainian estimate of generals killed was 17, plus one Admiral, so this would make 19 general officers. And one or two have died in Russia under mysterious circumstances. So maybe around twenty total, although the Kremlin's official count is unsurprisingly lower. In the case reported today, he is said to have stepped on a land mine---which sounds odd, but it's the Russian army. -----Alan
That gets me thinking about the presidents during my adult lifetime who were war veterans; I think they are less likely to treat the armed forces as toys. ----Alan

Re Huckabee: I continue to think impeaching Trump was a significant mistake. Huckabee is right that impeaching Biden would be at least as big.

Yes, a very good speech from a very good senator. It speaks volumes that there did not seem to be any other senators present.
