    1. Richard Nixon may have been a lot of things, but stupid he was not. Also, he was a skilled politician and had, by his lights, the welfare of the country at heart. Witness his resignation. There's really no comparison to Trump.

  2. I set out to read the Fulton County indictment [Click] but had to pack it in. After hearing all of that, I doubt the jurors are likely to be well disposed toward such arguments as the defense may make. I suspect that each person identified as “unindicted co-conspirator Individual [insert number]” is someone who turned state’s evidence.

    1. That law may be changed tout suite.

You know, I started out to type, "What vile people Trump supporters are," but had to pause. The few I know are decent folks in real life. It's only when they get into Trump Cuckoo Land that they turn into vicious, unthinking monsters.

    1. Well, the booking can take as long as 12 hours. Bond hearings are in the morning. One of the YSL gang member waited fromMay to January to see a judge and jury selection has been delayed by various arrests.
Willis has only been DA since Jan 2021.

    1. Awwww. How many hours did you manage?

Last night, using a combination of Sudafed decongestant and Benedryl antihistamine, recommended by my pharmacist, who has been way more helpful than my doctors, I managed to sleep a full 7 hours!! I was elated!! THEN I got a call from the Allergist's office, as there was a cancellation, so, instead of October 26th, would I like to come in for my allergy testing this Tuesday?! Turns out you have to be off antihistamines for a full week to get tested. =SIGH!=

I've decided to catch up on sleep first and maybe they can give me a week's notice next time? Maybe?

    1. One thing that was inescapable as I last night plowed through what I could of the Fulton County indictment was how prominently Rudy Giuliani was featured. I don't know, but I doubt Georgia has detention facilities comparable to the best of Club Fed.

    2. Yes, she was previously arrested four times for making threats. It is difficult to tell the serious unbalanced people from the unserious ones.

    3. You're right about that, Hannah. At the same time, there seem to be vastly more unbalanced people around on the loose than there used to be. Or maybe they're just more visible.

    1. Trump strategy is always to delay. Also, a federal judge might be friendlier and the jury pool would be larger. However, the ask will not succeed because meddling in state elections was not within his official duties and Georgia has very strict rules about candidates not contacting election officials. If he had called just once, it might have been overlooked, but there were multiple phone calls to multiple officials.
Because Stacey Abrams made voter access and integrity a major issue, Trump's meddling was particularly dangerous.

  12. James L. Petigru, (1860) "South Carolina is too small for a republic and too large for an insane asylum." I remember when then-governor Reagan closed most of California's mental hospitals; the numbers of homeless on the streets increased dramatically. Granted that mental hospitals had earned a bad reputation in many places.

    2. Closing the mental hospitals had the same effect in Illinois. But many/most mentally ill people benefited by moving to community-based shelters.
