It was explained yesterday that in Georgia a defendant has to demonstrate that s/he is qualified to be released on bail before the trial. I guess the presumption of innocence fades when a grand jury finds crimes have been committed.
1) I wonder what qualifies a person for pre-trial release in Georgia. 2) I have long been struck by the way TFG is often photographed speaking while holding his lips in just the way a hooting chimpanzee does. It is very unusual for a human, I think. ----Alan
{listener} TFG can’t help holding his mouth that way. It’s what shape the mouth takes when taunting or belittling others. So, in his case, it kind of got stuck that way. You know…like our mothers used to tell us would hapoen to our face if we made a frowny face too often.
Or it could be a heavenly warning. As in the old prayer:
O God, turn the hearts of our enemies. And if you cannot turn their hearts Turn their ankles, So we will know them by their limping.
Well, I'm guessing the "Yankee" is not going to get much tender loving care. In NY and Florida he qualified as a property owner and resident. No such ties in Georgia. Duncan opining that he's a "worse candidate than Herschel Walker," does not bode well.
Thanks, Cat. We continue to mask most of the time in public, and will get the new vaccine when we can. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. ----Alan
I'll get the new vaccine but have mostly stopped masking. I'm usually either outdoors, in a restaurant, or with a small group of friends. I should mask at conventions but usually don't unless specifically required.
We went shopping at Costco this morning (stocked up on pre-popped popcorn) and as we were leaving we stopped for a moment by the trash barrels at the entrance/exit. I read the banner for the compostables completely for the first time and had a good laugh. The banner was green, of course, with the legend "Compostables" and a big curved arrow pointing to the appropriate barrel. Then it had a list of appropriate things to throw in, together with pictures. Then a legend: "Anything that was alive in your lifetime"!
We have generally heat tolerant plants. The hibiscus are outstanding in that respect; they do famously in full direct sun. Daylilies and iris also do well. ---Alan

Heather Cox Richardson just said that DT cannot win again because he didn't get the popular vote in 2015 or 2019 and "Do you think he will get MORE votes now?" ~ especially as many DT voters have died since the last election and many new young people can now vote...!
