Spinnaker Kitty is a Sweetie

  1. I've had three or four calicos in my car owner's life, all lovely animals, and not one of them ever had a cat friend. Not even the litter-mates. I've wondered at times if they smell different to other cats. They are exceptionally easy to find homes for, everyone seems to want one.

    1. They are very sweet, but they tend to be skittish. Spinnaker is the one who will let the grands pet her, loves to be brushed and cuddle. However, I have never fully trusted her temperament since the day I was removing crinkled paper from a box and she came flying and attacked my face with her claws! Moreover, after I screamed and she backed off, and I went to finish moving the paper, she began to come back for a second attack! Calicos are not very bright.

She and her litter mate, Mizzen, started out cuddling all the time and used to wash each others' faces. But then they grew into their cathood and became less and less cuddly. As they age now (age 11 and officially "elderly" cats) they are getting more tolerant of one another. They can be found sleeping on the same bed again. I hope as they age they'll cuddle up again.

  3. The 80-year-old mystery of the skeleton found in a wych elm [Click] Sounds like a good case for modern investigation; first by elemental analysis of teeth to determine roughly where the person might have grown up, and then genetic DNA analysis. [Note via Wikipedia: The word "wych" (also spelled "witch") comes from the Old English wice, meaning pliant or supple, which also gives definition to wicker and weak.]

Come to think of it, this resembles the previous post about the cable lift in Pakistan . . .

  7. Vox on Trump’s Georgia indictment [Click] . . . “Trump has said he will officially turn himself in to Georgia authorities on Thursday, August 24, just shortly after the Republican debate (which he’s declined to take part in) and the airing of his interview with former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson. His arraignment, however, isn’t set to take place until later, with Georgia prosecutors pushing for proceedings the week of September 5. In Fulton County, unlike some of the other jurisdictions where Trump has been indicted, the booking process is handled independently from the arraignment when he’ll be able to offer his plea. ”. . .
Oh, and the arraignment will probably be televised. . .
