Russia's Luna-25 spacecraft crashes into Moon [Click] Before launching, they had given up on the rover, allegedly to save weight, although I suspect they wanted to avoid the associated risks of failure. I feel sorry for the people who will be held responsible, but after a hiatus of about 50 years I think it was unlikely to succeed. Surely Putin ordered it as a counterbalance to the losses associated with his war on Ukraine and decay of the Russian economy. —Alan
It seems that tropical storm the news media were getting excited about came ashore more or less along the central west coast of Mexico, has weakened considerably, and is headed up the east side of the Sierra Nevada, more or less toward Las Vegas. We had wind for a short period of time, a bit or rain, and two or three peals of thunder; but the predicted high temperature today is only 83F, about twenty degrees lower than usual of late. ——Alan
Just got home from taking Youngest and three young grands out on Loch Nest! The grands LOVED it!! Most amazingly, 5 year old grandaughter loved standing at the front of the bow, with the wind in her face, and calling out "Wave Ahoy!" whenever passing motorboats sent waves our way. LOL! She was completely at ease. But then, her favourite song is "This Girl is on Fire"!
