  2. Seems to be a relatively slow day for news so far. Ought to perk up a bit when TFG turns himself in.

From The Atlantic: Yevgeny Prigozhin May Have the Last Laugh [Click] “The Kremlin seems to be rid of a dangerous challenger. But at what price?” By Brian Klaas. Summary: now people will be even less likely to tell Putin what he doesn’t want to hear, he will become even more out of touch, and Russia will work its way further into the morass. [Note: In Russia both the FSB and the Army have their own foreign intelligence services. Army intelligence (as memory serves me) knew very well that the Ukrainians did not think of themselves as “Little Russians” and would fight. But Putin chose to listen to the FSB intelligence service, which said the opposite.]

10 AM and the Internet gods still don't want me to post. Currently 83F, on its way to 98F maximum. 50% humidity, on its way to 25%, which should be a good deal more comfortable. I stepped outside for just a bit to put out the trash, and I am sweating so much I will shortly shower, change pajamas (my retirement uniform), and activate my fan. We will pull more weeds this evening.

    Via politicalwire.com:
    1) “The plane carrying Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the Wagner paramilitary group, crashed as the result of an assassination plot but doesn’t appear to have been shot down by a surface-to-air missile,” the Wall Street Journal reports. “The preliminary U.S. government assessments, which officials stressed are incomplete, suggest that a bomb exploded on the aircraft or that some other form of sabotage caused the crash northwest of Moscow.”
    2) A flight attendant who was on board Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin’s private jet when it crashed Wednesday had phoned relatives to say the flight was delayed due to some “strange” repairs, the Daily Beast reports.

    1. That's just screaming little baboon Gym Jordan seeking revenge for trump not being allowed to crime without consequence. Also Gym has a real lust for appearing on camera. He's only in Congress because of Ohio's illegal gerrymandering to preserve minority rule. He's never done one thing of substance during his time in office. (Susan)

    2. Yup, that's how I see it too, Susan. It's all bluster and smoke. I hope he goes down hard before this is all over.

  8. Ex-Republican Star [Bill Kristol] REPULSED by GOP Debate [Click] Despite considering myself basically a New Deal Democrat (like my parents), I intended to cast my first vote to re-elect Republican Tom Kuchel to the US Senate, but he was knocked out in the GOP primary. Read his Wikipedia entry [Click] to get an idea what sort politicians the GOP could produce back in the days of my youth. There seems to be no room for them in today's Republican Party.

  10. When the grands were here I got 6 hours sleep, then 5 hours sleep. The night after they left I got 9 hours sleep! The next night 8 hours, on a new med. But for some weird reason, the second night with that med yielded only 4 hours of sleep. So I am pretty exhausted at the moment and hoping for a better night. But~! After hearing that it takes 4-6 months to get in to the ENT specialist, today I got an appt for September 15th!! Whoo hoo!! So, I'm just trying to bump along until then.

  11. NYT: Trump Surrenders at Atlanta Jail in Election Interference Case
The former president arrived in a motorcade and entered a rear entrance of the Fulton County Jail to be booked on racketeering charges. He left 20 minutes later. Express lane? Phooey.

Donald J. Trump is now in the Fulton County booking system, which records him as having “blonde or strawberry” hair, a height of 6′ 3″ and weight of 215 pounds.
That weight is 24 pounds less than the White House doctor reported Trump weighing in 2018.
His form is said to have been filled out by aides, not done by officials at the jail. So probably the height includes his elevator shoes.
