Friday was all about gardening as much as possible before going to VT*Grand's softball game. Her team won ALL their games this season and won the championship. What is especially impressive about that is that her team has just 9 players! So no bench time at all. They literally have 10 players, but one was out with an injury. Tonight VT*Grand scored 5 of their 22 runs. Final score 22-12.
Actually, the injured player made it to a game, got injured, came to one more game and got injured. 15 games in all.
Saturday will be all about getting the last of the flowers planted and as much as possible mulched before the day heats up. We are jumping from 50's and 60's to a day of 77, followed by upper 80's! My body hasn't acclimated yet and neither has nature. Plants here are still trying to recover from last week's killing frost! Our four Winterberry bushes (always the last to leaf out) were covered with tiny green leaves. They are now covered with tiny brown dead leaves. But I noticed yesterday that they are producing a new crop of green leaves!
“ On Wednesday, witnesses testified before the Republican-led Texas House General Investigating Committee about how the state’s attorney general, Ken Paxton, has committed crimes in office, including trying to hide an affair, using his office to help a donor, building a culture of fear in his office, using his power to retaliate against opponents, misusing official information, and abusing his office. As attorney general, Paxton is in charge of overseeing the enforcement of the law in the state.
“On Thursday the committee voted unanimously to recommend that Paxton be impeached and removed from office, citing 20 counts, including bribery and retaliating against whistleblowers, for his impeachment.”

Maybe Napoleon’s dictum that morale is to material as three is to one needs to be updated; say five to one? Towards the end there is a report of a US-mediated peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, which I hadn’t heard about; that is is close to mind-boggling. —Alan

ReplyDeleteSounds like the firewaorks are over. I didn't check, but I presume they were at the nearby HS stadium and were an early celebration of Memorial Day.
