    1. In response to your comment at 0218 Hrs: Have you read George Friedman's "The Storm Before The Calm"? And yes, the kids may well save us all. I am disappointed with the overall legacy of the Boomers.

    2. I have not.

The Boomers who came along a decade or more before late Boomers like me took everything they could get and rode the exciting wave of the ME Generation. By the time late Boomers got to going to college or buying a house, things were getting mighty unaffordable.

    3. I suspect the boomers were affected by the war-time stress suffered by their parents. I remember the college students arriving in 1961 and '62 struck us as self-centered and iconoclastic and not willing to put up with traditions. It was very obvious in a college for women operated by nuns.

    5. When i was in high school a nice house in the suburbs cost about $25,000.
By the time we were able to buy a house (about 15 years later) our half duplex cost $80,000.

    1. Things are bad when even the Republicans find him an embarrassment and want him to go.

    2. Republican politicians talk tough, but they're a bunch of weenies; they don't have the nerve to use tried and true methods that I shall refrain from mentioning here in deference to the minions of the law who are listening in.

    3. Colbert has been having a field day with Santos. He keeps ascribing all sorts of odd claims to Santos...and some are quite funny! And how would you tell them apart from the claims Santos himself has made?

  3. I just heard that my second year Spanish teacher has passed away, at the age of 100. I earned a D-minus in that class, but went on to get A's in 3rd and 4th year classes at other schools, and was truly inspired to study several other languages.

    1. Er...Aren't the cowboys pretty much gone already?

    2. I remember a movie I saw a long time ago of a real cowboy born a century too late; he got into trouble with the law and was thrown into jail; he broke out somehow (maybe called his horse and used the horse and rope to pull the bars out of the window?), and I remember the shot of him riding his horse cross-country, leaving a path of cut barbed wire fences behind. He was heading for the state line, got into a shootout with the law, took a bullet in the leg, managed to splint it by shoving his rifle into his boot, came to a freeway on the other side of which was the next state, tried to judge his timing, and galloped across the freeway just in time to be smashed by a truckload of toilets.

  6. Listener, my copy of the Jan. Sixth Report is on audio. Accordingly, I have access only to chapter and section numbers. Nonetheless, I'll keep an ear out.

  9. Lauren Boebert called Pete Buttigieg "clueless." It didn't end well for her. - ClickThere's not a whole lot to the piece, but it did give me a sardonic chuckle.
