  2. Supreme Court Can’t Find Leaker [Click] My review of the laws back to the beginning of the Republic has found that Supreme Court justices had no right to secrecy which the White Man was bound to respect.

    1. I have this fantasy that one of the more liberal judges allowed a staffer to leak it and is keeping a pledge that it remain utterly confidential.

    2. Although there is the alternative theory that a conservative law clerk leaked it in order to make it harder for Roberts to substitute his more nuance decision.

Yes, I recall that now. And, as Heather Cox Richardson commented tonight, interesting that the decision of the court did not change after it was leaked.

      HCR tonight!

  3. When Russia loses and Putin is out and the Russians want to get back into the good graces of the world, they will have to (finallly!) disarm to show good faith...!

  4. After I set the Bluebird photo and Title to post, I didn't see the Bluebirds again...until TODAY! I guess they read the blog. 🤣

I was thrilled because I had just set out a new Bluebird-blue mealworm feeder for them!

I soooo want them to stay! We even have a new birdhouse to put up come Spring.

  5. I talked to my urologist this afternoon. I was mildly disappointed but not surprised that he wanted to do a biopsy to confirm that the cancer is a cancer. That's scheduled to mid-February with the follow-up appointmnet the end of the month. A possible PET scan to make sure the cancer hadn't spread was also mentioned.

The good news is that treatment is not surgical and Dr. Leyland doesn't recommend radiation. Rather, I will be getting a testosterone suppression shot every few months for the rest of my life.

    1. Biopsies are not pleasant, though I suppose it's wise to make certain what you are dealing with. Very good news that all you need is shots! It sounds like you have a good doctor and a fine plan. So glad for you, Bill.

    2. There are significant numbers of false positive test results for "prostate specific antigen" [PSA], and there is great variability in the aggressiveness of particular tumors, so caution is in order. My PSA was mid-range normal and unchanged for decades; but if there were any incipient prostate tumors they were destroyed by the chemo-radiation treatments for my rectal adenoma, which was right next to my prostate--couldn't zap one without zapping both. (The chemo also took care of a skin cancer on my face.) In a way it was convenient to get two treatments in one, but that was by far the roughest part of my cancer treatment; thank goodness it is mostly forgotten. The very next day after the chemo-radiation completed one of my coworkers commented that I was looking better, and I hadn't told her anything about it.

  7. I was chatting with a recently retired correspondent in Greenwich Village. He babysits a grand daughter one or two days a week, his wife is an elementary school teacher, and they of necessity travel by the subway. I didn't ask if he has been vaccinated, but he says he has had Covid three times--with symptoms twice, and without once.

My wife and I socialize with a group of people mostly in their eighties, who have become less careful in their weekly gatherings and other interactions. Once a week they gather for a sort of prayer group, but Miyoko has not been attending for some time now. In one another's company they rarely wear masks. This week at least two of them came down with Covid, and we don't know how many others they shared it with.

Oh, that is so sad, Alan.

Truthfully, we remain among the very few here who still wear masks.
      Half the pharmacists don’t anymore.

But I find it very telling that all the doctors offices are still observing full-on masking and distancing protocol. One waits in the car until their turn and masks are mandatory.
