  1. Boy, a percolator and food cut-outs too! That's a very interesting set.

    1. I like the percolator...would have wanted the set just for that item. It's funny that the food cutouts do not seem to have survived 'til now. Hmmm...

Attorney David Schoen complained to U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols after losing a bid to delay Steve Bannon’s trial, per the Washington Post:

SCHOEN: What’s the point of going to trial if there are no defenses?

    NICHOLS: Agreed.

The January 6 Committee Moves the Needle
July 12, 2022 at 9:55 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

A new Politico/Morning Consult poll suggests the January 6 Committee could be changing the public’s understanding of that day’s events:

66% of voters say Donald Trump attempted to overturn the 2020 election.
66% say he claimed the election was fraudulent without evidence.
59% say he misled the public about the outcome of the election.

Also interesting: 44% of Republicans say Trump lied about the election results. That’s up seven points since the end of June.

  6. Texans urged to save energy as extreme heatwave strains power grid. Electricity demand expected to surpass supply as temperatures hit triple digits, shattering records [Click] But they don’t have to take any of that foreign electricity from other states! I will bet a nickel that the El Paso area is OK, since they are linked to New Mexico and follow federal regulations.

    1. I once drove through El Paso on my way to New Mexico; it struck me as roughly similar to Fresno.

  8. It's hot here--103F, they say. And it feels like it. Not at all unusual for July in Fresno. The Air Quality Index has is holding at "moderate" and we can barely see the mountains--I suppose it is due to a little smoke from the Yosemite fire. If the national weather forecast is to be believed, it looks like you might have some thunderstorms up your way, listener.

      No and Yes.
Not at our house, but as we dropped off Elder*NH*Granddaughter back home in NH, as luck would have it, we met an impressive thunderstorm during unloading. At least we were spared the worst of that storm’s fury, as other areas got 60mph wind gusts and half dollar sized hail. We just had a deluge and a little wind.

  9. Trump very recently tried to lean on a so far unidentified witness. [Click] I thought the Godfather had someone else do that sort of thing. For Heaven's sake, why isn't Trump pulling a Fulgencio Batista? Is there no foreign country that will give him political asylum?

    1. I figure that leaving from Miami his plane ought to be able to get to most of South America (specifically Paraguay); leaving from New York he could make it to northwestern Africa, Scandinavia and the EU; Moscow might just barely be in range without refueling.
