  1. I never had a chemistry set, but grew up to be a chemist anyway.

    1. From second or third grade I wanted to be a scientist. My 12th grade Chemistry teacher made the course so interesting and so much fun that I was turned in that direction. Mr. Elmore.

    2. Wonderful how early your interest was identified. That happens with strong callings.
PhD*Son was a Wildlife Biologist from the start. We have a photo of him at age 10 months, when we were camping, He's wearing just a diaper, but had already been walking for a month. In the photo he has toddled over to an old log and is carefully inspecting it. By the time he was three he was collecting animals and "loved them all the same." By the time he was nine he had binoculars and began going on early morning birding expeditions (with local experts) by the time he was eleven. People often ask kids what they want to be when they grow up. The better question might be to ask them who they already are.

    3. These stories of a focus from early in life have me shaking my head. In some ways, the story of my life is that there was never one single thing I wanted to be or do. There are just so many things that sound attractive. I suppose that's why I'm starting a new career in my mid-80s.

  3. Doesn't look an awful lot like the chemistry set I had 3/4-century ago. I'm sure there was no microscope (who could afford a microscope?) but there were more chemicals.

    1. I'm pretty sure that the Microscope is a separate item that they happened to place in front of the chemistry set. That place was jam packed with stuff.

  5. 3 PM here and we just got back from shopping. It felt pretty warm, which is small wonder since the reported temperature is 103F. The air might be slightly clearer than yesterday, and the clouds we can see over the mountains are typical for summer. Further north, where we saw what might have been smoke yestere'en, we can't see clearly.

    1. I like how the second and third links kind of cancel each other out. LOL.

Bannon belongs in the federal penitentiary (please oh please).

Trippi?! Even now, all these years later, whenever I see Joe Trippi mentioned, all I can think of is that I was at Dean HQ the day Trippi left the campaign, and that when I went to get my jacket my large Dean button was missing. I say Trippi stole it on the way out. Ha!

    2. I'm not so sure about the spider crab design.
Might inspire too many crazies. Heh.
      But it certainly is creative!

    1. YES PLEASE!!! A real primary contest!
But do you think the DNC would ever allow the will of the people to be heard and heeded?

    4. If Liz Cheney should run, I might consider voting for her in the primary election. In the general election I have a lot of freedom since California is certain to vote overwhelmingly for the Democratic Party nominee. I should hope Iowa loses its first place--they screwed it up royally last time.
