  1. Woke this morning with a mouthful of thrush (caused by one of my inhalers) and absolutely unable to remember the home cure which I have known for sixty years. Came down googled home cures for thrush. First entry on buy panel was home uses of baking soda (BINGO!) plus big pharma cures at 45 to 65 bucks, lol!). Well done google!!!

Kid woke me. Called from grocery store at 11, is on way. For a gorgeous day of the most efficient worker bee in Murica. Without which/whom I could not live here, alone, blessum.

    1. Baking soda? My first guess would have been vinegar. But come to think of it, back in the days before effective OTC medicines for athlete's foot, I once used diluted bleach, which in addition to being an oxidizing agent, is strongly alkaline--WAY more than baking soda. It stung pretty bad, but did the job.

    2. Just killed a big toe's worth of fungus with Vick's vapo rub. Took about three months, once daily, but considering what else they have out there for it, winner. . . . Told my ex, and he killed a toefull, too.

    3. Please share. I've had thrush since October, been to doctor time after time, expensive meds and NOTHING has cured it. Having trouble eating and in pain way too often.

    4. Several years ago I had a cough that was a long-continued damn nuisance. My doctor wanted to start me on Flonase--even gave me a prescription. Knowing that it could induce fungal infections, I didn't like the idea and went searching for herbal alternatives. Reviewers seemed in general agreement that Sinusoothe [Click] was the best, even curing fungal sinus infections. I gave it a try, and it sure worked. Three (for the price of two) is about a year's supply for me now that I have things under control. The reviews and advertising make it sound like snake oil, but nothing succeeds like success. For decades I had used two or three handkerchiefs per week; now one lasts me more than three weeks. (At that point I toss it into the laundry even if it is still OK.) That tells me I had a sinus infection of some sort that the medicos never recognized. It is a suspension of essential oils, so shake it vigorously before use. At first it may be slightly irritating, but one gets used to it quickly. My personal five-star rating.

    5. WARNING: DO NOT USE VICK'S VAPORUB INTERNALLY (i.e., in the mouth or throat) UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! It can kill by inducing a pulmonary fibrosis that presents rather like silicosis.

    7. Nope. Just rub a blob on the nail and around it. after a while the fungus dies, and the nail comes off.

i just mix about 3 table sppons of baking soda wuth half a glass of water, take a couple of glugs, swish it around my mouth several times a day. When that's gone, I mix another batch.

Or, there's this-- Home Remedy #1: Baking Soda

Baking soda, whose chemical name is sodium bicarbonate, is normally used as a baking agent that causes dough to rise. But it can also be used to lower the numbers of candida fungus in the mouth and thereby help treat oral thrush. Baking soda works by providing an environment that is unfavorable for candida fungus to thrive.

To use baking soda as a home remedy for oral thrush, boil a cup of water and set it aside to cool. Once cool, add 2 or 3 tablespoons of baking soda and stir to form a paste. Using a cotton ball, apply the paste on the affected areas inside the mouth. Repeat the application for up to three times daily until better results.

    9. Susan, since you've had this a long time, once you get it calmed down a bit, I would suggest also adding about a teaspoon of honey to a cup of warm water, mix and cool, then add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and drink it down, daily. I make a big batch and drink a half glass daily at times, as it's great for keeping yeasts at bay. Feel free to follow with a few good mouthfuls of plain Greek yogurt, as that helps to replenish the good bacteria.

    10. I recommend waiting on the vinegar until the yeast is calmed down by the baking soda, so it doesn't sting to drink it. (Even though it's a very mild drink.) It's actually refreshing cold in Summer!

  4. Last night, the fireworks, apparently in at least two different venues, started around dusk and continued till well after 2:00 A.M. Tonight, rather further away, they started around dusk again. They just stopped, one hopes for good. I *hate* listening to fireworks!

    1. We arrived home just after some began here. Our kitties were so freaked out by the sounds that even after we came home they fled to the basement. At least it didn't last long here. It wasn't a fireworks show, it was just some local random mini-blasts. Still...
