Sleep is one of the basic medicines, but that sounds like quite a dose! I don't even want to think how stiff my back would be after sleeping that long.
It also describes how the summer jobs that used to be filled by US college students when classes started after Labor Day are now filled by foreigners. That is one of my pet peeves—those summer jobs used to be a big part of paying for college in the days before students were pressured into taking out big loans to pay inflated tuition.
The book I am currently reading, "City of Brass" by S. A. Chakraborty, has a brief scene in 18th-century Hieropolis but the Gate of Hell isn't mentioned.
Hard to know how it will affect Illinois. The Chicago region, especially DuPage County, is pretty well vaccinated. Most of the counties with conspicuously sparse vaccination rates are also sparsely populated, which may make social distancing a matter of course.
Alan, the trousers video was fascinating. Thank you. The sophistication of the weaving was staggering. Gave me a great respect for the technological and aesthetic abilities of our distant ancestors.
Slept seventeen hours yesterday. A record for me, but much needed after the prior few days. Feel great!
