  1. In Case Against Trump’s Company, Echoes of His Father’s Tactics on [Evasion of] Taxes [Click] July 3, 2021 at 8:31 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

New York Times: “The first criminal case against the former president’s company features no grand schemes to launder money through Russia, hide millions offshore or commit other offenses commensurate with a self-described global business empire headquartered in a Fifth Avenue skyscraper. Rather, the details of the charges brought by a Manhattan grand jury have a rather low-rent feel that one might associate with a scrappy real-estate operation born in Brooklyn and Queens.”

    “Which, of course, it is.”

“The Trump Organization, for all the puffery of its leader, has always been essentially a family business, tightly controlled by Mr. Trump and a small number of relatives and trusted associates, including Mr. Weisselberg. Although the company has about 3,500 employees worldwide, most are lower-tier workers at golf resorts and hotels and only 122 made $100,000 or more in 2018.”

    1. Hmmmm. . . I suppose low-rent tax cheats aren't likely to set up overseas boltholes.

  3. Lead photo in this gallery is a photo of the Forth Bridge from a perspective I have never before seen. [Click] Remarkable! The Forth Bridge is notable for being the first large bridge made of steel rather than wrought iron, and it was designed to carry far heavier trains than cross it today. I don’t know if it is still the case, but originally it had a unique design of of heavy-duty rails.

    1. I wondered if hoping for a more emphatic message from on high might mean I am a bad man. But I think we know the answer to that. Thanks for the heads-up, Susan; I will have to look it up.

COW FOUND ON ROUTE 15! IS IT YOURS?

We have a maybe 8 month old dairy cross heifer in our barn waiting to go back home. She was found on route 15 Friday night at about 11:30pm headed south just before the underhill end of cilly hill rd. Police were called! We were called! No owners found. We are boarding her for the time being.

    1. Fireworks finally stopped here, thank Heaven. They started right around dark. Sure sounded close, but were probably from the park. I'll be happy when they manage to invent silent fireworks!
