    1. Wow! You must be stimulating the income of the Mouse Trap Syndicate! Are [or were] they standard house mice, or wild mice (with hairy tails)?

    3. Ah! Not a local species out here. Wikipedia is informative. [Click] It sounds like they are best encouraged to live outside human habitations.

    1. Deprivation is not likely to be effective with a population that is already grossly deprived. It is said that "misery loves company." I wonder if misery is addictive.
Personally, I think trying to talk an issue to death is valid. Just threatening to be obstructive is not acceptable. But, it is going to be hard to wean Capitol Hill off extortion and threats. It's what they call "negotiation" and "compromise." Never mind that the victims are always some innocent third parties. Triangulation is their usual mode, just like the Mafia and organized terrorists.

    2. At one point Mancin said using the filibuster should be painful. Which is essentially what Hannah is saying and what Alan and I have been saying.

    3. Rather than talk about eliminating the filibuster, why not talk about restoring the previous question motion? Same thing, sounds better. Originalism and all that.

  4. As it stands right now the filibuster is simply McConnell's veto. And we know he will use it for EVERYTHING.

    1. "The big picture: Biden has already proposed raising the corporate tax rate from 21% to 28%. He hasn't announced his individual tax proposal, but during the campaign he proposed raising the top individual tax rate for incomes above $400,000 from 37% to 39.6%."

      That's going big?

  7. We had a fabulous weekend with 3 of our grands! Whoo hoo!
More when I can. But I have to say they (ages 7, 5, and 2) were very well behaved and incredibly patient with and kind to the little one.

It was the 2 year old's first time away from her parents overnight. She was sad not to have her Daddy (our Youngest) at bedtime. But as she wasn't freaked out and she didn't mind me being with her, I hung in there and she fell asleep.

At 2:30am, though, she woke up and was really wanting Daddy or Mama. I texted them then tried to call each of them and no one picked up. I knew that if I needed to drive her home that I could get into the garage, as I know the code. But I wasn't sure that the inner door would be unlocked. The 7 year old said he believed it would be locked.

When she got loud, I took her downstairs. And a transformation happened! She got cheerful and played. For three HOURS. Her big brother (the 7 year old) came down with us at first, but I sent him to bed so at least he could be rested. I was relieved she was no longer upset, and decided to just enjoy the alone time with her. Then suddenly she said she wanted to go upstairs and snuggle with her big brother. She woke him up when we got up there and he was so sweet and gentle with her. He's a stellar big brother!! She was out in 5 minutes. Hurrah!

Of course, the 5 year old sister slept through the night and was ready to rumble at 7:15am. Ha!

All of that said, I managed to do well all day on 3.5 hours of sleep, though I had no cause to be standing at all. I think it was just the pure joy of being with them! The little one kept telling me she loves me and the 5 year old is great with big hugs. Pretty great after a year of grandchild deprivation!!!!

And now, I am headed to bed!
