  4. Texas’ incredibly poor planning caused their cold snap problems. [Click] El Paso heeded the warning of ten years ago and didn’t have any big problems.
This past week’s low temperatures are well within recent historical norms. [Click] It doesn’t begin to approach record low temperatures.

    1. It amazes me that 60% of Texans rely on electrical heating.

    2. Presumably electricity is dirt cheap, or was. No doubt there will soon be epic rate hikes.

    3. Sales of multifuel stoves, charcoal and firewood ought to pick up. Likewise generators and water purification systems (that don't require electricity). And carbon monoxide detectors.

  5. My post-retirement exercise regimen, despite numerous revisions, has proven inadequate. Lower back, hips, thighs uncomfortable, actually somewhat painful in the morning. On Naomi's suggestion I decided to try a compact (about one foot tall) and economical exercise cycle. It seems promising--gets most or perhaps all the complaining muscles. Evidently it can be used on tabletop for arm and shoulder exercise. Link if anyone is interested.

    1. I have one of those. It's a whole lot easier to find room for than a standard exercycle, and much easier to move about. It takes a bit of hefting to get it up to the right level for arms, but your model being considerably newer than mine may also be lighter. Smart kid you have. :)

    2. Is it the Desk Cycle? That seems to be a sister to my Hideaway Elliptical (now known as the Stamina Elliptical). It's so small you can push it under a bed.

    3. Goredi brand. [Click] Yesterday they quoted a little lower price for the black model than for the white one; today the other way around. I shall take it for another spin this evening.

    1. It doesn't have to make sense as long as it's what Fearless Leader says, or at least what the poor gullible SOBs think he says. He's a con man par excellence.

  7. Alan, I started seeing that on my (Republican) brother's page the afternoon of the attack. If ever a group wished to take NO responsuibility, it was those guys.

    1. I had seen some mentions of it before, but this is the first survey I have seen that quantitates it.

    2. Oh, yeah. Bloody scary, isn't it to realize how many Americans live in Cloud cuckoo land?
