Vermont View

In between those near hills in Vermont and those far hills in New York
lies (hidden here) Lake Champlain.

  1. Just announced by Vermont Governor Phil Scott ~

Beginning today, in Vermont, if you have been fully vaccinated you may visit another household, even if folks in that household have not been vaccinated! This is because THE CDC HAS DETERMINED THAT FOLKS WHO ARE FULLY VACCINATED DO NOT SPREAD THE VIRUS! Gov. Scott asks that we keep it to one household at a time. (But one could actually visit several households on the same day, one at a time. *AWESOME!!*

    2. When I signed up this past Friday, the updated California reservation system proceeded to set up a date for the second vaccination with my approval. I misunderstood and thought it had set me up for two first vaccinations on the same day. It's really pretty smooth. Our regular health provider started sending out invites (75+) last week, but the county is better provisioned. It's getting pretty smooth now. And I saw in the news that US manufacturers have worked out the production kinks and are about to increase production rapidly. All good.

    3. How long is the wait from the day you signed up 'til your first vaccine shot?

    4. I don't recall when I filled out the online interest registration. Waited maybe 2-3 weeks to be told they were making reservations for 65-74 y/o this past Friday. Vaccination today, Tuesday. Just eyeballing it, there seemed to be about ten times as many people as when Miyoko was vaccinated a week ago. Every workstation in the place was staffed. I commented that I had heard they got more vaccine than anticipated; they aimed to give two thousand doses today, compared to the 1,500 per day that they had designed for. They recruited several physicians and also nurses, at least some from private (this was one of the county sites) vaccination clinics that had run out of vaccine. We had a choice of any vaccine we wanted as long as it was from Pfizer. Lots of standing in line; total time three hours. Next time I will take a folding stool (I have several).

  3. FBI has cell phone location and contact data from the Capitol assault. [Click] Evidently some people are surprised—and shocked! After all, if foreign intelligence services gather the information, why not the FBI? There are probably more spoof cell phone tower installations per square foot in DC than any other place in the world. And broadcast radio signals do not have the legal protections of landline communications.

    1. Yet more proof, if more proof were needed, of how unthinking and completely insular the insurrectionists were.

    1. Positivity Rate down to 1.5%
      Death Rate holding at 1.4%

Dr. Irvine, our State Epidemiologist, said we had 2 new deaths, but I don't see that yet in the math.
