I’m a Body Language Expert. Here’s What I Saw During the Conventions. [Click] Excuse me; it would normally be in poor taste, but I am puzzled by Melania Trump’s attire when giving her speech. It looks totally at odds with her normal attire, aside from being rather voluminous and in all likelihood custom made. The odd thing is that it is clearly inspired by a WWII army uniform, certainly US, possibly Soviet.
Dang. I was hoping to learn something from this reviewer that I didn’t already know. You know, like Melania blinking S.O.S., or that a speaker said one thing while clearly thinking another. Oh well.
This Massachusetts House Primary Is Progressives’ Biggest Test Yet [Click] “Progressive Mayor Alex Morse’s bid to unseat Rep. Richard Neal, a top Democrat, could shift the balance of power inside the party.” Hmmmmm. . . This is from Huffington Post, so I am inclined to take the reporting with half a grain of salt, but it is certainly interesting. What do you think, Cat? I think you get a vote on this one.
That seems to be taking the old dictum that "politics ain't beanbag" altogether too far. The massive decay in local news coverage is a problem for which it's hard to see an effective solution.
I don't understand. They try to make this sound like a good thing. But I expect my voting location to be in walking distance, not miles and miles away just so some big corp can puff out its chest and say, "See, we're allowing you to vote."

One of the most fascinating things for me was their discovery that the recovered yeast worked well with an ancient grain, but not with modern wheat flour.
Makes sense. Modern wheat is, well, modern. Your ancient yeast hasn't evolved along with it...says the non-scientist.
It would be interesting if they tried the same thing with beer. I recall reading that beer and bread pretty much came into being at the same time, seeing as they used much the same ingredients.
The story says they have been working on that! Evidently they used different yeasts for the two. And the ancient Egyptian beer (just like ancient Roman wine) would not be to modern taste. But it was intended as food--and presumably safer to drink than water.
OHIO: As of Saturday afternoon, there have been at least 121,340 confirmed or probable cases in the state, 4,126 deaths, and 13,288 hospitalizations, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

ReplyDeleteI'm afraid the state party's dirty tricks, abetted by the local media's bias, may doom Morse, the first viable challenger Neal has had.
