    Great sleuthing there, Alan!

    Congrats, Cat!

    1. Great sleuthing? Anything in particular? I have just been spending too much time looking at too much news.

    3. Oh, just in general. Thank you. It is therapeutic for me to have a safe place to sound off.

    4. This blog community is a safe place for which I too am very grateful.

  3. I have an informal Summer art printing Zoom meeting Monday next--so better produce something! Temperatures should fall starting tomorrow, so my workspace in the garage will not be an oven. I will first just do some quick experiments with mark making in Kitchen Lithography [Click] then I mean to do a perhaps somewhat abstracted detail of van Gogh's first sketch of "The Potato Eaters."

    2. Aha! In addition to the completed painting, Wikipedia provides three preliminary sketches and a lithograph of "The Potato Eaters." The first sketch gives me a detail I can build on. Van Gogh sure made a lot of changes between the first sketch and the final painting!

    3. ...and isn’t that encouraging? One tends to think Van Gogh just whipped his paintings off.

  5. Two huge COVID-19 studies are retracted after scientists sound alarms. The quality of the huge database used is open to question. That chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine can have dangerous side effects is well known, but whether the risk outweigh the benefits is once more unclear.

    1. I hope they get the new street signs up quickly. Is it possible for someone to sponsor one?

    2. I know, right?
That (literal) street sign is such an act of brilliance!

"On Thursday, D.C. Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser formally requested President Donald Trump to withdraw "all extraordinary federal law enforcement and military presence" from the city, to include out-of-state National Guard troops."

WTH are Utah National Guard being used for crowd suppression in D.C. anyway?

  11. https://www.pressherald.com/2020/06/05/our-view-to-president-trump-you-should-resign-now/

"As head of government, you have unmatched power to direct resources to relieve suffering. You can’t or won’t do that, either, so you should resign.

And in your mistreatment of lawful protesters and abuse of religious symbols, you have violated your oath to protect and defend the Constitution, so you should resign.

Your supporters will no doubt say that this is an election year, and it should be left up to the voters to decide whether you deserve to stay in office.

But ask yourself – can this country take five more months like the last five? You are a president supported by a minority of the people, and your only path to victory in November is to further divide the nation. This campaign could do even more lasting damage than you have done already."

"Around the time most South Carolinians were sitting down to their evening meals on Thursday night, a gay porn star by the name of Sean Harding fired off a tweet that set tongues-a-wagging across the Palmetto State (and in the nation’s capital).

“There is a homophobic republican senator who is no better than (Donald Trump) who keeps passing legislation that is damaging to the LGBT and minority communities,” Harding tweeted. “Every sex worker I know has been hired by this man. Wondering if enough of us spoke out if that could get him out of office?”

    Wait … what?

“I cannot do this alone,” Harding added in a follow-up tweet. “If you’d be willing to stand with me against LG please let me know.”"

"As nice as it was to hear Joe Biden sound like a president this week, it is going to take a heavy, hard and persistent pounding of Trump to oust him. For that, Democrats can learn from the people who know his people best — the Never-Trump Republicans.

“Washington transformed into a war zone for this coward.” So went the latest salvo from one such group, the Lincoln Project. “This is a time for choosing: America or Trump.” The ad is blunt. Brutally effective. And the best way to beat a bully who cowers in a bunker."
